So, Why Even Have Resource Alerts When It's Easier To Get Them From Normal Runs?

As far as I know, rare resource alerts provide the limited prize of one measly resource. Considering a normal boss run has a chance to drop up to 3 of the same resource (and quite frequently too in my experience) why bother with it?

If we're going to have alerts for resources, I believe I won't be the only one to say WE NEED MORE. More from the alert than just 1 morphic or neurode.

Or am I missing something? I have yet to try an alert for less than a rare resource because I figure it will be a waste of my time.

Have you ever ran a level several times to get one Orikin Cell? Resource alerts are guaranteed to give you the resource they advertise. Plus it helps people get the little extra that they might need or stock up without "farming" anything.

 

The alert system is still being worked on and tweaked. This is the first revision with resources.

I'd like to see you get 3000 nano spores in 1 run, those things are extremely rare and a pain to farm. These alerts are a godsend.

Not in one but a few exterminate missions on Saturn can garuntee quite a lot of spores in a few runs. And its quick and easy.

There is sort of a plus side. Obviously not with a defense alert, but other alert types mean you can do a really fast speedrun of the mission to achieve a rare resource that may only drop from bosses commonly (neurodes, neural sensor, control module, etc). Don't even need to bother killing, just blaze though and get it done in a couple minutes, which is faster/simpler than running assassination.

Because its guaranteed and not a chance of a chance?

 

Theres nothing wrong with a single rare resource or a few hundred uncommon resources when its guaranteed. They should just be fairly frequent/common and DE could even do "rare" resource alerts that have more bundled together.

In regards to rare resources, I agree. I've been checking these out, and noticed that in addition to their low number, they frequently end up with on defense, which leaves me confused, since at that point even assuming multiple runs to get a single resource, it'd still be faster to farm them the old fashioned way. A single resource, guaranteed or not, is simply not a reasonable reason for an alert (also, those pitiful cash alerts). Even increasing it to 2 would make it worthwhile, but I think 3 would be best. At that point it would feel worth it to me even if I didn't need the resource currently. As is, the rare resources are frequently not worth doing the alerts for even if I actively need them.

The rate gives 1 guaranteed, you can get more. 

 

I had people reporting 3 or 4 Morphics from a single game and that's good. 

Some gotten 300 plastids, others gotten 600+ from the event.

 

That shaves off a good 6 games imo.
