Sentinels: Hovertank And Arachnoid

Hello, some Friends and me discussed about why there are no ground-related Sentinels in Game ... and so I present 2 Ideas of Sentines wich aren't flying around your Head :)

Nr.1: A Hovertank (no Name Ideas yet..)

 

The idea:

The name is actually not a Name for it, but describes what it is: a small supporting Hovertank ^^


The Idea behind it is a a little tanky Companion wich attracts Enemies Attention and simply takes damage. It wouldn't be a classic Tank because on Ropes it couldn't follow a Warframe with it's extraordinary Movement.

 

Abtilities:

 

1 - Shield Supercharge:

When detecting a large Amount of enemies (maybe 4+) the Tank supercharges it's Shields to 150/200/250/300/350% of its original Amount and Attracts the Enemies Fire/Attention

 

2 - Radial Shock:

When detecting large amount of Enemies (...) the Tank will Attract them using Magnetic force and then triggers an Explosion with the same damage as his shield has in this moment (so it will be an dynamic attack depending on his maximum shield and how many Damage he has taken. Leveling the skill will increase the Range (and eventually increase the efficiency of shield-to-damage-convertation [i'm actually German and have no Idea how to write this XD])

 

Behavior/Stats:

- A tank is a Tank and so must have massive amound of HP, Armor and many Shields (not too many to get a balancing for the radial-Shock) and eventually as an extra slow HP-regeneration (Like 0,2 per Second, we are in the future!^^)

- He is not as main a Damage-dealer but has to do it's job as a Tank. So: He gets a Cannon with 100 or more dmg per shot BUT a firerate of 20 shots/minute. (jup, thats slow but devastating)

 

Special Notes:

- Maybe let the tank to activiate his skills get some distance to his Warframe?

- never let him trigger both skills within a time-distance of 5seconds (or maybe more?) to avoid "overpoweredness"

- always flying 10-30 cm near the ground but never more than 1m away of his warframe'S Feet (so if you jump about gaps he also will and hovering on the ground looks better :)

- The cannon may fire energetic Bullets not ballistic, its a hovertank, not an old rusty thingy from the desert ;)

-this should be the absolute opponent thing of shade, attracting enemies not beeing unseen.

 

Nr. 2: The Arachnoid ("Black Widow", "Robochnoid", "Arachna")

 

The idea:

A fragile mechanic Arachnoid wich crawls on the Ground and has poisonous and spiderlike Abtilities.

 

Abtilities:

Spit:

Poisons the Warframes Gun with 5/10/15% additional Poison Damage (Not meele, thats Saryns part^^) over 5/10/15/20 seconds (15/20/25/30 seconds cooldown) if Warframe is attacked.

 

Poisonous-Cloud:

If detecting enemies near the Warframe the Arachnide creates a Poisonous cloud under it (2/4/6/8 m range, dealing no damage to Warframes because of their special Air Filters)

 

Behavior/Stats:

- The spider should be fragile, so a minimalistic amount of HP but fancy Shields.

- as gun i would prefer a laser wich has small range and deals a small amount of damage (hopefully customisable through energy-color)

- the spider should crawl next to the Warframe, and can crawl at walls (maybe if the warframe performs a wallrun etc) but can't make big jumps. So if the warframe jumps or abtilities it will jump onto his leg (Why? i never saw a slashdashing spider ^^)

 

Special Notes:

- maybe spit gives a fixed amount of poison damage? But there is the problem adding to many damage to low-lvl-weapons and to minimal to highlevel.

- Eventually Void-reward?

I actually like both ideas on paper. The arachnoid being ground based would probably be way to hard to code with current sentinel mechanics. And I would prefer a cc web-mass type of attack instead of the radial poison cloud. 

I've wanted a sort of tank sentinel for a while as well. Some could argue that Dethcube fills this role already but I prefer my tanks to take massive amounts of damage yet deal next to none, instead of Rhino and Dethcubes take a fair amount  damage and deal a fair amount of damage. [but lets not digress into a Rhino/Dethcube debate] 

Either way, cool suggestions. They can now sit buried in the forums like all the other suggestions that DE is too busy to look into.

I know the sentinels behavior would be hard to create (especially the spiders ones) but should be possible ^^

didn't know dethcube is a kind of tank O.o 

 

thought he is more dmg-dealer ^^

This really is a great idea, though i agree it would be hard to program but if all ground based sentinels follow the same(or very similar) mechanics then I think this would be something that benifites the game alot by giving more diversity in the sentinels.
