Ok, maybe to save a laptop it would be worth it lol.

 

I understand the frustration though as I'm one of those all or nothing gamers, I play a game pretty much 99% of the time til I just....don't. So I am kinda lost at the mo but as someone above said. A paid game goes down and the dev loses nothing really apart from some rep as they've already made the majority of their money. A F2P goes down and that's the devs revenue gone bar maybe a small amount from merch etc

It's not particulary expensive to rent a botnet. Though I can't fathom why anyone would be willing to pay just to DDoS a game.

I know, bit of weird humour, but it is better to laugh then get frustrated as the dev team is doing what they can at the moment.

 

 

Sadly, this IS pretty much the state of the internet, especially with some of the decisions DE's made recently. Which is all the more reason that, as I said even before they confirmed my suspicions, DE needs better DDOS protection. It's a cost of doing business with this many customers. League of Legends would be down constantly if they weren't well-protected against this kind of thing.

If Reb or anyone else DE doesn't see this and make sure it gets into the next Prime Time stream, I'm going to be so immensely disappointed.

Yeah, problem is both Destinies in their current form are terrible games that I left for good reason. Year 1 Destiny was pretty much the only Destiny worth playing, and it's long gone. Don't see the point in wasting money on Destiny. Destiny = throw some time into it and end up finishing all content with nothing else to do and no future content being added to it. Warframe =  Free to play with new content constantly being added into it resulting in far more game time and fun. I can wait for them to figure out this DDOS issue.

well, warframe has kept evolving while most other games i know have died out over some time, maybe WoW being one of the very rare cases. in this specific genre tho i doubt anything can keep up with warframe especially with the tendency of the developer actually wanting to make the game better and better instead of aiming for a literally "finished" state and bleeding out the comm with halfbaked content. in my opinion knowing that u get a long term value out of ur playtime and/or money is far more valuable than seeing a new title and jumping the hype train. many games were hyped and then disappointment commenced for which destiny is quite the primed example *badumTZZZZ*

Not to be insulting and this is said out of genuine concern, but you have anger issues that really need addressing and you need to calm down.

In the meantime, do yourself a huge favor...take a few slow, deep breathes, turn off the laptop and go for a walk or do something else that'll occupy your mind.

I assure you it's better than destroying a laptop and possibly hurting yourself.

It's nearly impossible to find out "who" is the single person who rent the botnet. You might find millions of participating clients )most of them not even knowing that they are used), but not the person who "ordered" it.

From most DDOS attacs people can't/won't understand why someone wants to do this, but obviously some people do it anyway.
