zVariant
I've been playing Warframe off and on since the very first beta. Its difficult for me to keep on how the game changes. I started with the old tree system before mod and fusions were released. Needless to say I don't play the game enough to keep up with every new system that is put into the game. From first glance of the mod system I thought I understood the idea of combining mods of the same type to create a more powerful one. What was lost on me was that its very important which Mod is being fused into what even if they are the exact same mod. On top of this there is no warning or notification that you were about to waste a mod by fusing a more powerful one into a lesser one of the exact same thereby losing the more powerful one completely. It wasn't until recently that I realized none of my mods were staying upgraded and then found out that I was doing it all wrong. This is a design flaw that leaves me frustrated because the UI does not notify you of this unless you happen to hover your mouse over the Fusion button and even then the game could do a much better job of telling you what you're doing. Honestly I think its ridiculous that a lesser mod of the exact same type can overwrite one of a higher upgrade level.
Lumireaver
I don't think it's a flaw, but I can see how someone would be confused. This is just evidence that we need a tutorial to communicate details like this. I recommend sending a support ticket and explaining your situation if you lost anything particularly valuable. They may be able to help you.
Khaos_Zand3r
If you managed to get a mod up to a higher level in the first place, how'd you not figure out which way the fusions go?
EinRyu
I do feel that the Fusion System should warn you when you are about to fusion say a Max Rank Split Chamber with a Unranked Split Chamber, I also feel that certain mods cost for fusion should be scaled down (Hornet Strike and Serration... wasted nearly 1k mods to get 3 from the top, Really?) But that's really my only gripes on this system, all and all it does what it says and it's somewhat up to you to look at the mods you fuse before mindlessly pressing the Fusion button. zVariant
If you managed to get a mod up to a higher level in the first place, how'd you not figure out which way the fusions go? Fusion Cores because I didn't understand how important they were. You make it sound difficult to level up mods which it isn't. A new player can go in and Fuse all the mods they have into a single one without thinking about it. Voila, a higher level mod. There is no system in place to tell a player that it probably isn't a good idea to do that. Edited August 12, 2013 by zVariant
