Rengakun
I propose a new idea: Adding a heat system. Certain weapons will be affected. Examples could be: Supra, Gorgon, Dera, Flux Rifle, Spectra What it is and does: Affected weapons will have a heat meter which will increase every time the weapon fires a shot. Once the meter is filled, the gun will jam and the user must wait for the gun to cool down to a certain point. Affected weapons will have their max ammo multiplied by a certain amount. Certain weapons will have their damage increased the hotter they are, like the Energy Clantech Weapons . This system will add 3 parameters: Heat Generation, Capacity and Cooling Rate. Heat generation, capacity and cooling rate will be affected by existing mods. Firing rate mods will reduce heat generation, Magazine Capacity mods will increase the Heat Capacity, Reload speed mods will increase the Cooling Rate. When heat capacity is increased, the damage multiplier (If applicable) will also increase linearly. e.g.: Base Capacity 100, damage multiplier 1.5x at max ; upgraded capacity 150, damage multiplier 2.25 at max. Affected weapons will also get Emissive Maps, making them glow as they heat up. The Supra will have its already existing emissive map modified and it will glow brighter than a dying star when it overheats and made so that the Energy color will be more saturated, brighter and more intense as it heats up. And now for something off topic: The Supra's magazine has 2 protruding objects. My theory is that one of them is a battery/fusion power thingy that generates heat while the other contains plastic, which is to be super heated (Turning the plastic into plasma) and then fired out through magnetism. Each action has an equal and opposite reaction, the super heated plasma being launched out will create recoil. And a question for people who know more about physics: Judging by the recoil of the Supra launching plasma via magnetism, is its projectile speed appropriate? So, what are your thoughts on this? Do post what you think below! Edited August 14, 2013 by Rengakun
Technosonic
i think its cool it gives more character to the energy weapons.
Erusa
I like the idea for the energy weapons...Gorgon shouldn't get the increased damage in heated state though...The reason why I would be against that bonus on Gorgon is because there are units that actually use it.Having their weapons overheat as suggested can somewhat make them easier to manage and not shred your shields off in a matter of seconds if you're swarmed. How should I type the above so that it's not confusing? Should I just add a Bold and Underline? Indeed, it would be nice if the overheat applied to enemies too! Unless DE thinks otherwise... I supposed I read too fast and missed that one little word or I was reading this while thinking about a bug in the IDE I'm using in a project I'm doing and all that.... D: Tis be my bad, sorry. HAYABU5A
u know what is cool about this idea ? the lower tier "normal" weapons will not have any heat build up and be more reliable where as the most powerful weapons can output more damage and destruction but cannot be spammed like crazy or face jamming via heatbuild up this introduces a intelligent dynamic into the game ! Yup! That was exactly my thought!
