Making Miter Viable And Awesome

So the Miter deals 125 or so Serrated Blade damage. That's neat.. but the way it works is bleh. It has a completely useless charge-up, so why would anyone charge it? Also, it's too slow and in general there are other charge-up weapons that are better than the Miter.

The Miter requires lots of grinding to acquire, so it should at least be a viable weapon. Here's what I propose:

Click once to fire the Miter without charging. It will fire without delay if you rapidly click the button. When it's not charged, the glaive doesn't puncture enemies. It's damage stays at the current 125, but it's got a 20% critical chance and 150% critical damage.

Charging the Miter makes the glaive much stronger, causing it to puncture every enemy it hits. It only disappears once it's hit a wall or obstacle the maximum amount of times. It also deals 150 damage, but has only 5% critical hit chance.

Uncharged: Rapid fire, 70 damage, 20% crit chance, 150% crit damage.

Charged: Punctures all enemies, 150 damage, 5% crit chance, 100% crit damage.

This allows the Miter to be a rapid fire weapon, a sniper, and a crowd destroyer.

Yes. Being able to choose whether your flying frisbees of deth bounce or slice would be pretty awesome.

Even if the stats for crit chance aren't perfect, it's still sure as hell better than what the weapon has at the moment.

If you compare our version of this gun to the Eviscerator grineer unit, you see him spamming the sawblades like it was never meant to be charged. I can't judge the weapon's performance yet as I'll have to get home to pick it up. I can only assume that the playstyle is closer to that of a shotgun rather than a sniper (really just upset about it using sniper ammo. Look at ogris, wtf?)

Well, the thing is, we can charge it. So why not make it a nice all-around gun through that method?

I was expecting Miter to perform the same as what the Grineer eviscerators weapon.

Instead we have a weapon which has the same mechanics as a bow with some extra added in.

I don't like bows so this one will probably be used just for mastery.

Personally I want a damage reduction in exchange for being able to fire off blades as fast as the eviscerators can. Though it can still have a charge function if one really needs a stronger shot that, like you said, is more likely to punch through a crowd.

I'm saying that it fires like that. If you tap the mouse, it fires instantly. Rapid tap to rapid fire. Otherwise, hold it to charge.

I know, though 125 damage for a rapid fire saw gun would be a bit OP, even with travel time. Imagine if the Latron did over 100 damage per shot. The base damage should be somewhere in the 60-75 range, the fire rate slightly lower than the Latron, and the charged shot can remain 150 damage.
