Aden
The whole purpose of this topic revolves around what the sentients were and how they may still be effecting the world of warframe. So far, to my knowledge, all we know about them is that they were the reason the Orokin created the technocyte plague. Now for this race of beings push a species as advanced as the Orokin to the point of creating a double edged sword like the plague they must have been fairly advanced and possibly on par with the Orokin so here's my theory. The Sentients went to war with the Orokin, or the other way around depending on what comes to light later on when more lore is revealed, and were either on equal footing with or stronger than their opponent. As the war dragged on the Orokin, which created the primes that the warframes where based off of, developed the technocyte plague in the hopes of ending the war. Now this worked but it did it's job to well and caused the death of the Orokin but not the tenno who by that time had entered cryo sleep. The Sentients, who were similar in power to the Orokin, had beings similar to the tenno but had nothing similiar to the lotus to coordinate them. Due to this only one awakened after the orokin had vanished, this is my way of explaining the stalker. He is to the Sentients what we are to the Orokin, a soldier using copied technology. Then with the latest addition of lore from arid fear's completion we discover something about the tenno heritage is hidden on the planet. My theory on this, and this is all pure speculation so far, that phobos is where the plague was developed. Stone construction similar to today's covered over by the sands of an arid world. The plague can assimilate and reconstruct biological and metallic substances to make itself stronger but we can all agree that we've never seen a infested with bits of rock in it, chitin yes, metal bits yes, but no formation of stone can be found in any of the enemies we face. combine this with the unexplained technocyte plague growths and fines that you see on the little metal in the easily ignored corners of the mission maps and it's not impossible to see this as the actual birth place of the infestation. Now I'm curious, what do you all think? I've had my moment to speak my mind so tell me what your theories on the lore concerning anything from the Sentients to the stalker or even the plague. jpvi1207
i tried to ask about them and when would we confront the ones responsible of the doom of our creators in past livestreams, but jerks with "nerf this" and "buff this" and "fix this insignificant bug" beat me to it, was like 9 pages the second i reloaded the topic

My theory is similar. I believe the sentients is a form of pathogen that had a hand in creating the tenno, as well as the technocyte. You can see this in the new tileset announced as of ls 12, where they said that Orokin trees that arent made of that crystalline material are actually infected with sentience. Now look at Tenno Dojos...

I'm afraid, as indepth as you have thought this through, its wrong. As the developers have confirmed Dark Sector is a direct prequel, or rather Warframe is a sequel, that takes place thousands of years later, the Tecnocyte Virus was not created by the Orokin, but infact simple Humans thousands of years in the past. This lead to the birth of the first Warframe, Hayden Tenno, who likely was the one who birthed the Tenno to begin with, and thus made the Orokin race. As the Tenno's Warframes are infact created from the Tecnocyte Virus, it would make sense that they knew how to create, control and destroy it in due time. This however could have gone out of hand when using it as a weapon against the Sentients, as has been proven in Dark Sector, you can attract, and most likely control, those infected with the Tecnocyte Virus through sound waves (so Radar). This then lead to the uncontrolled spread of the Tecnocyte Virus, and thus distruction of both the Orokin and Sentients, as both sides may have ended up being swallowed by the Virus (as J3-Golem could help support, due to him being "Orokin Old", and being able to absorb matter, so could have taken from both sides). However, as the Tenno and Warframes would have been created from the Virus, they were unaffected, and were forced into hiding and cryosleep due to the virus' effect and outburst. The Lotus was a council of members (i think), in Dark Sector, and likely was the sort of, Reigning Council of the Orokin, and some managed to escape the destruction. The Lotus then re-appears, using a single messenger to the Tenno, to bring them out of Cryosleep to re-claim the system from the Grineer and Corpus, and hopefully rid the system of the tecnocyte Virus for good. I see your point, I was unaware that the dev's had confirmed that dark sector was a direct prequel so I went with my gut thinking they were separate but similar universes. Thank you for this new information.
Papa_Nuk_Nuk
Humanity=sentients ? I think humanity is actually the grineer. Or atleast, we lost Earth to them. I feel as if the Sentients were a more biological form of creature, and the Orokin more technological or even digital creature. We Tenno are called the Betrayers by the Corpus, seems as if we betrayed their gods, the Orokin. Also, the Orokin neural sentry is the thing that mindcontrols enemies on their towers in the void. So if this was true, the infestation wouldn't be terribly double edged. Also, unless they were desperate, the Orokin, being a highly advanced species, wouldn't let loose a plague that could kill themselves too.
