Lets Talk About Single Hand Weapon

Recommended Posts

Will they ever get some sort of buff to at least be useable?

I am 99.99% certain no one uses them (other then Dark sword because it has the word dark in it)

I understand bigger two-handed weapons are and will deal more damage.

Dual weapons should be a little faster and unleash faster blows.

But where does that leave one handed sword and daggers fit?

How would you improve them?

It gets weird when it comes to single hand weapons... Personally I feel a single hand weapon should do more damage then a dual wield... Why? because off hand combat... because not everyone is ambidextrous. Like Skana should do more damage then Dual Skana, meanwhile Dual Skana has higher speed of usage meaning faster consistent barrage of blows vs. shear power of each blow. Then you end up in two handed weapons like Fragor, and scindo territory...

How it should be

Dual wield is speed with less damage

Single hand is more damage, and faster then two hand weapon but slower then dual wield

Two hand is slower then both groups but has the highest damage

This would mean Single hand weapon focus would be ideal for all situations as its the middle ground to speed, and power.

There is utterly no reason for two weapons to be inferior to one weapon held in a single hand, assuming at least one of the dual weapons is roughly the same as the single one.

You do not need to be ambidextrous to use both of your hands.

My personal views of using a single blade states that they NEED a way to be useful.

There are advantages to using a single blade in the real world, and they are very important reasons. Using a two-handed sword allows for better precision, and stronger hold.

How can this translate into the game? Damage. Dual wield weapons could have raised crit chance for "lucky strikes", but single weapons need to make up their general lack of "sweeping" in damage. If you're precise with your weapon, you hit the right spots HARD.

Raising the base damage and base charge damage of two-handed swords will create the split between high damage, crowd clear, and swing speed. All weapons should have two of these three stats while sacrificing the other.

To reiterate:

Two-handed swords like Dark sword or Skana: High Damage, Fast swing speed

Dual wield One handed swords: Crowd Clear, Fast swing speed

Heavy Weapons: High Damage, Crowd Clear

As for daggers, they would have High Damage and Fast Swing speed as well.

So your some kind of Chinese epic monk dude that can wield two swords? Maybe you know some ancient legendary art where you don't need to be ambidextrous for perfect control in both hands... If you can vouch as a Master of Sword wielding then I will personally take your word for it...

daggers must deal 100k armor ignore dmg with stealth execute and we are good to go =D

cause, u know, cant kill ~40+ mob with stealth execute with fully moded weapon... dafuq

hmm... a dagger that ignores armor on stealth attack... sounds legit considering in medieval times they had chainmail piercing daggers that went through the mail and stabbed them... I could see this working...

With the exception of ether daggers, all the dagger weapons deal armor piercing damage.

Skyrim the stealth gave you some insane crit damage with stealth... Daggers should do the same here on Warframe... Seriously... daggers need some serious buffing to become the ultimate sneak tool in the game... So more people use it over fragor, and fangs.

Agreed, the normal Stealth buff is 200% damage for all melee. What if Daggers had a 300% buff? They would be the ideal stealth weapon.

One handed weapons are useless. Basically all the melee weapons should be reworked in my opinion. Stealth attack shouldn't be dealing damage in the first place, it should be instant kill. One handed weapons should be average in everything, daggers should be the fastest weapons with lowest damage but instant stealth kill. Heavy weapons should be the slowest, with highest damage and vulnerable to interruption. As for dual weapons, I have no idea. Probably put the between daggers and one handed in terms of speed and damage.

I think that each type of weapon should have a different utility to make them all useful for different situations

There is plenty of games where a sneak killing doesn't kill them...

Edit: also Reaper prime, and Hate should not instant kill someone for beating enemies as if you were wielding a crowbar

It's incredibly difficult to use two swords in each hand and using one sword with two hands (yes, longswords use two hands) will allow to swing way harder then flaing with two swords.

Steve said that he didn't want stealth attacks to be insta kills.

He said that they could possibly be exploited which, I sort of understand.

A scenario would be

Use Loki

Go invisible all the way to boss

Stealth attack

he ded

But I'm certain there are ways around these "exploits"
