Custom Activity Stream; Topics Only Not an Option?

Why isn't Topics Only an option for activity streams? Lets say you miss something on the recent topics stream but can't remember the title... Or maybe you took a hiatus you just want to see the most recently posted topics in a subforum (such as PC Updates and Information) and not be bombarded by duplicate search results from literally every reply to every thread. Currently that's impossible. You can try using advanced search but you have to use a search term, so that's only if you know a specific thread you want to go to and not if you just want to look at all the threads themselves, unread or otherwise.
