First Plat Purchase?

Thinking about using the 50 starting plat, and warframe/weapon slots seems like the best idea (right?) I'm not seeing myself buying platinum soon though

 

but I'm still new to warframe so  would more warframe slots or more weapon slots better in the long run?

or split it between weapon/warframe slots?

i would suggest getting some plat sooner than later though... perhaps wait till you get one of the plat discounts from login.

things to buy with plat:

slots weps and frames

customization options (colors, sent parts and so on)

taters and forma

maybe sents. only due to the fact that they come with 2 taters in them, saving time/mats on building.

what I meant by "I'm not buying plat soon" is kinda more like "I'm completely f2p". If I did buy plat someday, I'd probably buy weapon or frame slots. but with the starting 50 plat I could buy 1 frame slot and 4 weapon slots right? I don't remember the prices

How many frame/weapon slots do you have?  or how many do you like and use regularly?

 

and slightly off topic, but what should I use a catalyst on? (I have dread, braton, despair, DEther, seer, lex, and kunai)

You should buy 2 warframe slots, don't worry about weapon slots, every time you level a weapon to 30 you can sell it so you will have enough space for other weapons.

I agree since i didn't buy a warframe slot and filled it with my Saryn so i have no slots left with a Excalibur , Volt and Saryn but I am most likely going to buy a founders package so no biggy.Anyways I would go with more warframe slots :D

Personally, I would go with all weapon slots.

 

If you choose the right starter frame for the play style you like, you can run that frame start to end game, in just about any situation or mission, and still have fun with it. My Loki is still a riot every time I tag him in, and I'll do anything from walk newbie friends through Mercury, to rushing alerts, to Wave 40+ Outer Terminus with him.

 

However, there are a TON of weapons in this game. Some weapons just can't fit into the "Jack of all trades" space, so you sometimes need to specialize. Rifles, Shotgun, Bow/Sniper, Launchers, Semi pistols, Burst pistols, Auto pistols, Heavy melee, Light melee, even ranged melee. You need some combinations to work with on weaponry, and the more weapons you have stashed away to work with, the better.

Definetely buy a warframe slot and 4 weapon slots with your starting plat. These are the only things you cannot get for free. Orokin reactors and catalysts are not really needed until much later in the game, and besides that, they will pop up rarely as alert rewards or login rewards.

 

As for the catalyst, waste it Despair or Kunai. Despair has slightly higher damage, deals 50% extra damage to medium grineer,  50% less to trash infected mobs, and otherwise deals 100% damage. Kunai has slightly lower damage, deals less damage to a few grineer units but otherwise does 100%. Really it's just the difference between armor piercing and physics impact damage. Either one would be a great choice.
