Kitgun auto vs semi-auto. Should the barrel determine this, or something else?

This video is where i got some details on the looks of weapons: https://youtu.be/uQTuvBhd6PY?t=90

And just the parts/built imageshttps://imgur.com/a/oU9cNEt

Right now in development it seems the barrel determines if a gun is semi auto or not, but the grip designs they shown are more reminiscent of weapons like the furis, gremlins and viper. All have full grip or longer length magazines in front of the trigger. Or they have top loaded magazines.

The primary options look to be a forward facing type and a side angled one. The side angled one in particular does not look like a semi auto at all, it looks like a stripped down gorgon with some industrial corpus styles.

If they use the grip it would make more sense honestly, and would prevent some weirdness of weapons not working like they look like they should.

If they used a shorter magazine for semi auto weapons it would look less like a machine pistol/machine gun, and allow for more personalization of the other components imo, but this would require more new models.

Or have it be a 4th "part" for semi/full auto or held/charge for beam weapons. This could be that clip attachment part that is shown in the video/picture, have high capacity/fast loading and full/semi auto be the dichotomy. This would be my personally preferred option as it would allow for less constraint for the overall flexibility of the weapon in regards to how it looks.

Currently it seems that the barrel determines the basic functionality of the weapon (like a Zaw's strike), the grip provides a speed/damage tuning (again, like a Zaw's grip), and the magazine provides extraneous tuning.  While this may not be particularly sensible on the more literal side of things, from a design perspective their choices make a great deal of sense.

My main issue is an aesthetic clash within the game that the barrel causes as the strike analogue. The kitgun grip should be the strike, with the barrel be the grip analogue.

https://i.imgur.com/OvFDcjV.jpg The gun in the center of the screen due to having the long barrel is almost guaranteed to be a semi auto weapon, despite it looking like a corpus/industrial/cutdown gorgon.

The haymaker grip(maximum damage) causes the gun to look like a furis/machine pistol with various barrel lengths due to the magazine being so long. If the magazine were shorter it would be more fitting for a semi, when you combine with the chillfinger having a very long look and the lessened vertical space of the magazine it gets the impression of a true hand cannon imo.
