Make The Game Easier To Copy

Could you guys please make the game a little easier to copy from one computer to another?

When I built this computer, I copied my entire Steamapps/Common folder to an external HDD (took hours).

When I got this computer up and running, I copied the Warframe folder directly from Steamapps\Common and placed it within the same file tree on my new computer's HDD (I had already installed Steam).

I knew that Steam doesn't play nice with Warframe updates, so I tried to run it Stand-Alone without Steam.

I booted the Launcher up, and it works as predicted. It installs DirectX, asks me for my UN/PW, etc etc.

Then, it wants to download 2GB. What? I already have that data there. It should scan what files are already there and verify that they are the correct files (they should be, I just played two days ago before copying the files).

Apparently when the launcher downloads files, it sticks them inside an oddly named "Public" folder, and the user has to cancel the download, copy the Win.cache folder from the regular place to inside of "Public" and then start the launcher up again. And even then, sometimes it doesn't work and the launcher STILL wants to download more.

Arrrrrrrrgh.

Could you guys please improve this a little? Have the launcher run a Verify on first startup maybe so that it isn't asking users to download 2GB? And maybe have Just the Launcher on the Steam version and let the Launcher take care of everything else?

Well Warframe\Downloaded\Public is the standard directory for the game files, isn't it?

I've always played it Steam-free, so that's what it's always been. :/ And I just copy almost everything in the Public folder over to another PC (after running the installer until it starts the Launcher). Just starts up, no hassle.

EDIT: I mean that that's how Warframe's install directory was, and always has been. Any differences would have came from how Steam handles the files, and not Warframe.

1. DL and run/install the installer.

2. When Launcher runs and starts DLing the game files, close it.

3. Copy over latest game files in install dir from PC A to PC B.

4. Start Launcher, Play.

Launcher will check Launcher's version, then DL latest file manifest from game file server. If files in installdir matches manifest, then Play button is enabled. Pretty simple, actually. :/ How much the files from Steam deviates from standard non-Steam install, I don't know.

Original Installation and Steam installation are both done differently. You cannot use an installation of the other to finish your installation. It's like this with many games. Steam alters some files so it is necessary to use steam with that installation, like a DRM.

Hmmm.

That's odd.

Well, I was able to copy the files from the Steam's version to Warframe's, and it worked (it wanted to DL 11MB), but still a bit of a hassle.

Oh well.

Not sure why Steam needs to DRM a free-to-play game anyways lol.

Just some steam standards. So you won't be able to play the game without having steam active, which I find quite annoying.

Though only the DRM part of the game would need to be replaced by new files (through integrity verifying). So I guess that 11MB were the steam files.

Turns out the 11MB was 9.6.1 actually. lol.

I had played Warframe early yesterday and 9.6.1 was deplyed about 5PM and I put Warframe on my new computer about 9PM, so yeah probably 9.6.1.
