  1. As said, it's the idea that's a matter of discrepancy.  That said, as an individual that buys plat... well, we got you.  The fact that you (generically, straight-forward F2P) play is, in itself, good enough.  In this case, presence is all that's asked.

Fight on, Tenno, with a clear conscious.

  2. 3 mil, ~750 hrs/Steam, 1026 hrs in game (and probably much more as I've been playing WF since right after it went open beta >.>).

I know I've binged a bunch on various things... but I don't remember what exactly.

  3. I see where you're coming from OP for an optional... but the thing is - I tend to believe - that it would ultimately be unfair to inflict that (even optionally) on someone.  Mostly it's immersion breaking, although the idea of in universe ads on the radio might be cool, though it doesn't make sense in the fact that we're listening to radio chatter as opposed to entertainment radio.

What's more, as for how trading helps, the plat was purchased - platinum moving hands means more plat (eventually) will be acquired by someone as some of that plat is inevitably tossed into the void (marketplace).  It encourages more generation of platinum via player transactions.  A living economy also aids in the attractiveness of the game etc.

  4. I'm honestly a fan of the 'Oh, the ship's exploding, so?' response that the exit gives... that said I can't disagree that some variety would be nice. (And that darned grate thing has bothered me for the longest of times.... I look up, but what?  I'm too ninja to ninja, apparently.)

  5. Good suggestion. I've actually thought the same myself numerous times. Randomly generated objectives could help break up the monotony so much. Running through an extermination mission and suddenly here's a capture or assassination target. Maybe you need to do something like hack the bridge of the ship to fire on a ship that's about to shuttle over reinforcements. There's an endless amount of possibilities that can have a positive, negative, or neutral outcome to spice things up and maybe give a bit of lore while making the enemy factions seem more alive. Furthermore in Defense missions even at the higher levels you can split the team without too much trouble. It contributes to the boredom when one person can hold the line without any help and everyone else is just there for the end rewards. You feel like you're doing chores.

Minus the endless defense (at the time it was the only endless) there was a time when mission objectives could, and would, change randomly.  I enjoyed that particular feature alot, though to be honest I'm not certain why they removed it.

That said, throwing in random challenges would definitely spice up defense (I truly hate that mode) and add in interesting flair to gameplay overall.  Perhaps not so much on the penalty for non-completion (do this or lose shields/etc) but rather 'do this and get this' akin to how the affinity bonus works (eg 10 melee kills).

  6. Of course, what we don't know is if the Chinese Nikana Prime has the same stats that the world version of Warframe will have (or even if those are right)... or even if ::shudders:: that particular item is Chinese founders exclusive.  The latter is unlikely, though I don't trust what is coming out - data-wise - of the Chinese Warframe.

One thing I do know, though, is that a Dragon Nikana Prime would cut the galaxy in half upon it's unveiling.

  7. I primarily run Ash, duration build, and he's incredibly useful.  Throw in teleport to decimate that heavy there, oh another? Got it, zip.  All the while not fretting the team with death.

    Team mate downed? Got you.

    Low Life support?  On it.

Little bit of Blade Storm as the sprinkles when needed/lower enemy output DPS long enough for the team to catch their breaths.  Priceless.

I swear by my Ash (now Prime!), both with 5 forma (Ash was up there long, long before he was Primed).

Only thing he really falls short in is Defense/Excavation (not a fan of either, myself).  The other endless, he's awesome.

  8. Stuff like Alad V is a timeline thing so the relevance is limited.

That said, Underwater survival makes sense insomuch as scrubbers and the like are needed to maintain a livable atmosphere for a number of reasons (oxygen being the least of the concerns, but like space pressure a bigger one (though inverted)).  This being the case, I'd liken it more to different pressure levels of water - we don't see open sea, after all.  The pools we hop into our archwing are under the same pressure as the local, as opposed to the entire ocean above.

Of course it's just conjecture, and applying a square peg into a round hole, but it's more fun trying to make it logical than just throwing my hands up in the air and giving up. XD

  9. Firstly:  Semper Fi, Devil Dog.

Secondly:  As has been said, we speak as the Tenno.  Therefore, if we believed them to use military jargon, they do so.  That said, this is - and as far as I'm concerned should be - a matter of imagination.

  10. After reading through this thread...

    Two things:

    1) If that's what happened, then those guys were jerks, and you're better off moving on, though a L15 frame is a bad choice for these sort of alerts.

    2) As MR20, with plenty of time in game, the breadth of experience is useful assuming it's well earned (EG knowing how to work with that [insert frame/weapon] here having been on that end, before) there has still been plenty of times to master individual layouts, too.  That said, an under leveled weapon is not a problem, under leveled frames, however, are.

  11. Ah, that brings me back to my New Player Experience.  White screen tutorial that summed to 'What Warframe do you want? Excal/Volt/Mag?  Ah, here's some weapons, that's your shield/health/stamina.  Go kill stuff.'  And a giant tutorial button that stated the ideas of what stuff does.  Fun times.

I'm really confused, though, about how the new stuff is so overwhelming for novices.  I understand it's a lot to get used to, though an earlier poster did make a good point - one would hope that devs could depend on common sense, that said common sense isn't so common.  One has to realize this, that said DE is in the process of it.  The new star chart will help streamline the matter quite a bit by what it reads as... though for functionality I'm pretty certain the ingame tutorials (in Codex) has a lot of that information.

It doesn't have a neon sign pointing to it, though, which might be the issue.

I've gotta apologize for being a bit snide and sounding 'elitist' but these sorta things are tiresome - the lack of willingness to explore and blaming it on how many distractions in this world there are, and so on.
