  1. Why care, either way Darvo's deals weren't even close to what this game needs.

    -Only discounts platinum stuff

    -Warframe pack, even as a Darvo deal had almost a price of a full AAA game.

    -Even if you own items within a pack, you're still charged full price.

  2. Initially there is NO projectile at all.

    Projectile spawns when your initial target is ragdolled, then (it's visible - it's white and has snowflake particles like frost skills) it goes in the straight line as if it was extension of line drawn between you and your target.

     

    Additionally it has initial impact AoE splash, which in most cases will not work very well, unless you utilize height difference

     

  3. This is true that PS4 runs on openGL, but that's just rendering aspect.

    Porting game onto Mac/Linux would also require to rewrite the game using another programming API.

    Windows software by default depends on WINAPI, whilst linux has tons of programming APIS.

    MAC also has different API than Windows, so re-writing the game to be compatible requires not only time, but people who are familiar with the MAC programming.

     

    Another thing is, that PS4, and consoles are very strict environment. Once you get it working, you're guaranteed to have it running on  all copies of the console.

     

    Whilst MAC is just a pretty PC, as far as hardware optimisation goes, it's even worse than PC, since Apple often setups desktop MACs with builds that are less than suited for real gaming.

     

    Porting Warframe to MAC would require hiring another sub-team besides the core team and PS4 team, which would be noticeably bigger than the PS4 team.

    Which is hardly possible due to their already stretched budget by PS4 and PC development.

     

    TL;DR - Having the game ported onto OpenGL solves less than 1/4 of the actual problem. Remaining 3/4 are still as solid as a wall in preventing DE of even considering a MAC port.

     

    Additionally, compare what's more profitable:

    -Porting your game onto an upcoming console, even more, the developer of the console outreached to YOU to have it as a release title.

    OR

    -Porting your game onto MAC system, knowing that most MAC users who are gamers already use bootcamp and the remaining niche is less than few thousand of potentially casual players.

  4. Porting WF onto Mac/Linux is hardly doable/profitable.

     

    Firstly - Warframe is entirely DX based

    Secondly - there's licenced stuff inside (Like PhysX) which has no Mac/Linux counterpart.

     

    Most beneficial thing a MAC user can do to infinitely boost his gaming experience and capabilities is to bootcamp his mac and install windows.

     

     

    Even if it was doable, then:

    -It requires rewriting the engine on to OpenGL, hundreds of hours, tenths of thousands of lines of code.

    -Requires majority of available human resources, pulling programmers and Q&A staff from current issues, leaving people with game left in indefinite beta

    -Generally unprofitable.

     

    Additionally most of MACs aren't enough powerful to run Warframe at decent settings and framerate, and general MAC user will blame software instead of hardware he owns.

  5. Really like the idea, since the original Stealth Thread seems to be forgotten way time ago, people still post but no one seems to care.. Most of this ideas were already put on that thread but no one bats the eye. I do agree that stealth should be Instant-Kill, but only for Long Swords (with a longer animation) and with daggers (Single Dagger for the fastest animation, and Dual Daggers for a medium animation time). The other ideas as alarm disable, disguise etc are all good stuff, but again, already putted on the "Pinned Stealth Thread". But it is good to see a nice, organized Thread about the few points that would make stealth better...

     

    One other thing, so far stealth takedown won't count elemental mods for some reason '-' (well it is broken anyway but just putting a check note)

    People seem to literally ignore stealth aspect both in its current form and its "how it should have been" design.

    Sadly warframe seems to have taken shape of "Rush through any mission type" game.

  6. As far as I'm aware, memory is a grey area. The contents of a program residing in memory can be interpreted as both being part of the program (thus files) and as being a separate copy from it and being technically an illegal copy.

    Law interpretation is country-dependent.

    Truth is that even big wigs like EA and Activision could NOT rule out and forbid memory modifications.

    Which is why they tried to bring down projects like Alter IW NET and Venice Unleashed, but ultimately they failed, because there's no law backing for punishing modifying their games on the fly.

     

    As long as you own legit copy of a game and don't modify the files on your HDD, you're fine both from law and TOS viewpoints.

    Injectors DO NOT modify game files.

    Injecting to a process patches memory sectors on the fly which results in influencing how program works.

    However files from which program is loaded into memory remain untouched.

     

    So as long as TOS of any software don't mention modifying process on the fly, it is allowed simply because it does not modify any files.

  8. I agree with the poison stealth kill, if it is only to daggers (short-melee). To fit better the "stealth" of the small blades. And to re-vamp them a little, since almost all daggers and long swords are lower tier on the current balance.

    Well, i'd be glad to have it in, no matter the form, more diversity in stealth, the better.

    Masking Tracks... The game already get rid of the body after some time. Could be implemented a "X (use)" button on bodies do push them in a corner. To increase the immersion. =D

    Yes, but enemies enter alert state once they see body of their ally, so some people might want to have ability to dispose them at once.

    Deadly Chain... Loki's invisibility is 7 seconds at max rank. I think this mod hugely nerf the main stealth warframes, loki and ash, allowing the others to being invisible too.
    Tweak the timing perhaps?
    Maybe like 2/3/4 seconds?
    Lethal Damage... As I said on my first post, in my opinion the stealth attack should kill in one hit no matter the level. Daggers could be the instant kill when the other weapons would need this one. But again, the current stealth attack damage is totally under powered.

    Well, yes, it should've been that way, but it isn't and we don't know whether it'll change, as of now we NEED the ability to boost stealth takedown damage.

    Patience... Not the best name for a mod with this effect, but I would like this one.

    So would I.

    Paralyzing Fear... Interesting effect, but that could be something affected by the warframe itself with conclave maybe. Something like, the higher you conclave, more fear and panic you cause when detected on enemies of a "lowered level" compared to you. I'm suggesting this, and I personally don't like the conclave idea... XD
    No matter the implementation, this would be an awesome feature to have, maybe like. Higher conclave rating = higher chance for enemy to pee in his pants upon discovering your presence.
    Security Breach... Not a mod, would be better as a chipper item use. Using a chipper on a terminal gives you a enormous puzzle to solve and disable the alarms. And security cameras on corpus missions... =D

    Once again, how it is implemented does not really matter, might be a mod, might be an item, but it NEEDS to be in.

    Pickpocket... kill to loot more, don't looks  a good idea to me since the boss rushs. People would use this to get itens faster.  .-.

    Not really, it would trigger only on stealth TAKEDOWNS (animation), which are slow and usually you don't pull of many of them in a mission. Additionally stealth and takedowns are in exactly opposite direction than rushing.

    Toxic Trap... Backing to the begin of this post, should be a dagger-only instead of warframe mod.
    And once again, would be cool to have it, no matter how it works. Traps are ninja style too.

    Master of Disguise... Interesting one... but looks more like a loki's hability than a warframe mod, since loki's trickster nature and role.

    Technically all Tenno are ninjas, and all ninjas are masters of stealth and disguise.

  9. It seems Darvo sells mosly expensive toys. So, I hope for big badass pack with all existing color sets.

    unless all packs would count out prices of stuff you already own within a pack they're useless as most people own at least one or more avatar pack or color pack.

     

    Paying twice for something you already own is not fun.

    Anyways "Token" system has been suggested numerous times already and it's most likely only viable solution to the horrible and hated RNG and drop table clutter.

     

    You gather the points/tokens/coins and you claim the prize you want.

    Grind is still there, but it's much less chaotic and WAY less rage inducing.
