  1. Before I get into this, yes I do understand that there is a megathread for Kuva Liches. However, I will not be posting in it as I don't want suggestions for the present and the future drowned out.

Many of us agree the the Kuva Lich system is boring and repetitive. We were shown a fight last year at tennocon that actually looked interesting, with the kuva lich piloting a capital ship. In no instance were we shown the murmur or requiem mod system, and if we were shown it, it would've made more than half of us want DE to revamp kuva liches. Now with a majority of the community looking to ignore kuva liches (unless trying to obtain mastery fodders), it seems that DE needs to make a change fast if they want to keep their new idea alive.

    Invasions:

Invasions could be improved MUCH better if you could tie in kuva liches to them. The invasions would actually affect the base game outside of the events they create every few months. You could have the Grineer and Corpus fighting over contested nodes until one side fully took it over. You could designate a planet (like Pluto) or a new moon tileset to invasions with the explanation that each side is fighting over the planet's resources. You could have invasions led by your Kuva Lich which would have a node be captured in their name. This Kuva Lich invasion would be single player, unless you get a squad who wants to help you push back your Lich's forces. Of course, with the Lich backing the Grineer up, their is a MUCH greater chance that they would be able to capture the node and expand their forces throughout the tileset if left alone by the Tenno. This would make much more sense than the Lich capturing nodes that already have Grineer ruling (like the Lich owning parts of Mars), because they aren't in a civil war.

Rewards for siding with the Corpus during a Lich Invasion:

In exchange for pushing back the Kuva Lich's forces, the Corpus would reward you with the location of Spy Vaults that contain information of the Kuva Lich's weakness (perhaps these missions could be located in the Kuva Fortress, the tileset captured by the Lich, or established Grineer locations like Earth or Saturn). These Vaults would be harder and longer versions of spy missions, with the Lich's high ranking body guards making sure no one enters the vault.

Here are some ideas to make the spy vaults challenging yet still able to be completed:

    • Many lasers for general detection (like usual)
    • Parkour Obstacles (also like usual)
    • Randomly Generated order of rooms to prevent against memorization
    • Randomly Generated Code carried by a unique bodyguard
    • Vault doors that require randomly generated code
    • (CONTROVERSIAL) Nullifying Technology for disabling stealth abilities
    • Console Alarm System: Enemies trigger alarms through console instead of being instantly detected
    • Instant detection after firing primary or arch weapon within reason (ie: no explosives/loud shotguns). This can be bypassed by equipping Hush mods on allowed weaponry.
    • Guaranteed and Indestructible Freeze/Shock proc pads that can only be disabled via non-decipherable console to prevent against speed running vaults. These pads would show their range (perhaps through a sort of caution pattern on the ground) and would trigger the alarms if stepped on.
    • Data-mass behind the vault door that contains Kuva Lich Knowledge (requiem). The information would be in form of a data mass to get rid of the sense of safety that you get after acquiring digital spy information rather than a physical copy.
    • Make the way out as hard as the way in
    • Triggering alarms while escaping with the data mass triggers a lock down, with the non-decipherable console to deactivate the lock down be in a room surrounded by high level bodyguards.
    • Successful extractions with the Kuva Data Mass requires you to plug the data into the Orbiter for knowledge and acquiring of the FIRST requiem (this means that you will have to do a Lich Spy Vault 3 times in order to satisfy the requiem conditions).

These odds of completing the vaults are meant to be weighted against the player, so that completing them requires timing and thinking instead of just farming and hoping you can kill a Lich.

Benefits of using spy vaults instead of requiem murmurs and requiem mods

    • This would make getting to the point of fighting and defeating a Kuva Lich more linear rather than grindy, as hoping for a Lich to spawn in your mission/getting a requiem mod is boring.
    • The requiem's would no longer be permanent mods, only TEMPORARY until the Lich is defeated, which gets rid of only having to do vaults a certain amount of time until you get all the mods.
    • This would provide a challenge rather than a time wasting grind.
    • It would make invasions feel more rewarding and part of the game, as well as strengthening the want to actually have a Kuva Lich.

    Back to Invasions:

While it seems that choosing to fight against the Kuva Lich in an invasion is a better idea, you might want to hold onto it. Choosing the side of the Kuva Lich would allow you to receive better rewards than choosing the regular Grineer, as the Lich pillages the Corpus with great efficiency. This would mean that fighting with the Kuva Lich would allow you access to greater amounts of Corpus resources, like Fieldrone. You could maybe even receive a limited supply of deadly Grineer weaponry after completing multiple invasions for the Lich. However, this does come at a price, as the Grineer and the Kuva Lich still do not favor the Tenno. You would have to pay an entrance fee by credits or common resources in order to access the Grineer-captured nodes. This would mean that any mission that takes place in those nodes (like Void Fissures or alerts) would require the entrance fee imposed by the Lich. This would balance the choice of each side of the invasion, as each reward still has a cost.

    General Kuva Lich Ideas:

Make the Kuva Lich come after you for a random chance during ANY mission that isn't part of a story. This would create surprise and make you worry that your Kuva Lich might be the cause of you failing your mission. There already is an idea like this with the Stalker, so why not do it anyway? Also, remove the "anger bar" that the Liches have, it makes no sense as the Kuva Lich's are MADE to hunt their enemies, not only pursue them after constant annoyance. Also, the Lich should get a boss battle, like we were shown in TennoCon 2019, despite owning a capital ship or not. Make a node on the Kuva Fortress that is OWNED by the Lich, and have it be his castle when he isn't taking part in an invasion. This would create a boss room and make the path to a Lich semi-linear along with the idea of having the Kuva Spy Vaults.

Digital Extremes, you guys are a great company who likes to interact with their fan-base. But please, when introducing ideas, take polls that ask the general players if they want a feature in the new updates. This could've easily eliminated the Kuva Lich problem we have right now. I hope you guys see this, and I can't wait to see what you do with Lich's in the future.

If anyone has any suggestions to make my idea or the ideas of others even better, please put them down in the comments. Thank you.

If you like this idea, please upvote it as well so more people can see it.
