  1. I guess I havn't gotten as far as everyone else here, but for me I'm hoping the game gets harder haha. Solo play for me has been very satisfying but playing in a group seems way to easy. Only played during this beta weekend so far.

  2. First Impressions

I've been waiting to try this game for a while and it was great to get in on the beta weekend, I even bought a founders key after playing. For now I just wanted to give my initial impressions of the game after about 2 and a half days of play time - not much I know, but just leaving some feedback :).

First off, the pace of the game for solo play is amazing! I started a little earlier than my friends and quickly realized that just running through blindly in this game just wont cut it. Gameplay at level 1 is extremely tense and invigorating. Running out of ammo, buying time so your shields can recharge and best of all, non regenerating health!

The gunplay as well is quite nice - simple, but very satisfying as the weapons animations have a good feel to them. Melee on the other hand is somewhat quite shallow to me, but the kills are fun as hell. I guess it goes with out saying that I had a blast since I bought into the closed beta, but I do think that this game could be way more involved, even to a point of competitive mastery, especially if PVP is ever implemented. With wall running/jumping, sliding and gunplay based largely on skill and accuracy, the basic frame for the game is pretty solid.

When I finally got skills I did find them a bit overpowered, almost like a "WTF" button lol. I chose volt as my starting WF and "shock" just clears rooms, same as the Excalibur's sword dash move which seems to just decimate groups of people. While fun to watch it does make some of the situations a bit too easy. One of the most tense situations is going up or down in an elevator and knowing you're about to get zerged by dudes when it opens. Getting out of those situations with conventional means is so much more satisfying than a one button win, especially when i got "overload", that thing is just imba.

One of the only things that did kind of bother me was group play difficulty. Though multiplayer makes the game fun, it also makes it a lot easier, like cake walk easy. A group of my friends came over and we tried the beta together on a LAN and we just mowed through the levels. Satisfying yes, but not as challenging as solo play and it did make some skills kind of useless. My friend who had loki had no real reason to use invisibility or his clone because we'd be moving through everything so fast. During solo play I'd die when situations got too hairy - door lock down, being zerged and low on ammo. But in group play we seem to run out of enemies to kill.

I know this was just a first impressions of a beta, and as I said i did have a blast playing this game. I love the gun play alot and I try to utilize those more than my skills. I do think that it needs to be harder though, or at least scale with group play. Maybe make the skills weaker? That might not fly with everyone, but I do like my games on the harder side and so far Warframes has definitely been stimulating :)!
