In short: Because people were idiots and decided they'll use an exploit so much that DE will notice and fix it in order to make things fair.

And yet a certain clan who utilized these same methods that many people in this thread don't like retains most of the points it got using this method.
It was like this for the past couple of events, too.

All this talk about Vor reminds me of Stalker. Those who aren't geared enough complain that he's too hard and needs a nerf, while those with closets full of 5-forma'd and tatered weapons and frames think he's easy-peasy. Vor shares the same problem with Stalker and the rest of the assassins in that he's primarily a gear check, and not designed as an interesting and challenging encounter or boss. Further inflating his bullet-sponge stats is just artificial difficulty; it will just take more time to kill him rather than requiring more skill.
Also, trying to kill Vor with a laggy host (which happens a lot more often that I'd like) can range from being a massive chore to being near impossible, which might be coloring some of the perceptions people have about him.
There have been times when I have been able to kill him quite easily, and then others...
The shields are fine, but like... I've seen times where I've destroyed his shields, but they just instantly regenerate.
Orokin drones will completely regen his shields if they fly by him.

The only reason I would ever consider using the Supra would be with Volt EShield shenanigans, and DE patched that out. So yes, the Supra is bad.
On the subject of recent clantech, I'm getting the impression that this recent trend is simply a way to further encourage people to buy weapons with plat instead of building them. It would certainly help to explain how lackluster and uninspired they have been.
