    care to try something?

    Run DDU

, while the gt 440 is out of the system, and Install 362.00 Drivers,  this driver comes with the latest physX driver.

the reason why the GT440 has to be out of the system for both DDU and new drive is due to some of the registry entries that come with driver updates.

Depending on your operating system you may need to run another program/app to check your windows registry for errors. however since no other PhysX games you have (did you mention which ones they were?) did this. i don't think this will be necessary in anyway.

    Tried this.

Its sort of working now, PhysX toggle is on and there are some effects in the game now, like the PhysX spray from Volt's Noble Stance unarmed idle animation. But other places still have nothing, like the Nekros Noble Stance idle animation. I used to get a snazzy bunch of PhysX particles before, now its just a N-64 era looking blob of smoke snot... what is going on with this game...

I'm on Win7 and ran CCleaner to check for reg errors, didn't find anything Nvidia or PhysX related though.

  2. Well I pulled out my 440 and tried running on a single 670 and it still isn't working. I get the PhysX toggle in Warframe but no matter the settings I try there aren't any PhysX effects anymore...

Running 364.51 drivers now, clean installation and still the only game doing this is Warframe.

By the way, what GPU are you using?

Older GPU's are restricted to what PhysX version they can actually support and it looks like U18.5 came with an upgraded version that some cards can't use.

For example: my GT 545 only supports up to version 9.15.0428, if the game's version is higher than that, no PhysX.

Right from Nvidia website about PhysX driver :

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.15.0428-driver.html

    Release Date:

    2015.05.21

Supports NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 9‑series, and 100‑series to 900‑series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory.

So you are saying your card supports the latest version of PhysX, which is 9.15.0428 and has been out since May 21, 2015. I don't think any games will be using a higher version than that, since there isn't a higher version.

I spent some time searching around and can't find any mention at all anywhere of a new PhysX version that has secretly changed the hardware requirements. If there was a big change to compatibility like that, wouldn't NVIDIA have updated their website's driver download page to let people know? Wouldn't DE tell us about these new hardware requirements? Wouldn't the CPU PhysX option work properly?

DE has just made an error in their PhysX library update, hopefully they can track it down soon.

  4. Bearer of bad guesses might be more accurate, this doesn't address the PhysX on CPU option getting Warframe all confused or the fact that no other games have the problem. Unless Warframe is suddenly the bleeding edge of PhysX innovation to the point of creating unheard of compatibility issues that no other modern games encounter?

I've got a response from DE support saying they are aware of the issues and working on a fix, so hopefully we can get back to using our PhysX cards soon.

  5. Since the 18.5 update many people have been unable to get Warframe PhysX working properly.

A few have got it working by setting PhysX to CPU in the Nvidia Control Panel, but for most this just re-enables the PhysX toggle in Warframe while leaving the actual PhysX effects disabled.

acording to warframes system req http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/pc-games/warframe/system-requirements the 440 should work as long as you have the 1GB version

    • Nvidia Graphics Card with 1G of video RAM
    • Driver Version 310.90 or higher

I do have the 1GB version and according to that PhysX site a 440 is rated 4 out of 5 for dedicated PhysX. Besides, this setup has been running Warframe PhysX for over 2 years without issue, no bottlenecks at all. Processor is AMD 1090T 6 core clocked up to 3.9 Ghz, it barely notices when Warframe is running. But as I said, setting PhysX to CPU still results in Warframe failing to run PhysX at all.

My setup is designed to run PhysX dedicated on my 440 so my 670 is under less load due to PhysX calculations. This setup works perfectly fine for all games, including Warframe up until 18.5 patch.

DE is going to have to fix this because the problem is obviously a result of something they have done, not some issue with mine or anyone else's hardware.

  8. Ok, got a little more info here using the the Nvidia control panel to change PhysX processor.

Setting PhysX processor to my 670 makes PhysX work again, but I have a dedicated PhysX card to move some of the load off my 670, this isn't a fix for me.

Setting PhysX processor to my 440 causes the PhysX option to be greyed out in Warframe, this was my original setup that worked no problem before 18.5 patch.

Setting PhysX processor to CPU causes Warframe to re-enable the PhysX option, but the in-game PhysX effects are still missing.

Update for patch 18.5.2. I'm still unable to enable PhysX. If I select my CPU as my PhysX processor I can enable it in-game however it makes no visual difference (there are still no PhysX effects after enabling and restarting the client). GTX 560 here, if that helps.

I am having the exact same issue, no amount of tinkering on my end has resolved this. DE must have borked something up with their PhysX update.

  10. Like the title says, before the update I had PhysX on and running well, after the update the option is greyed out.

If I go into the Nvidia control panel and change PhysX to run on CPU, Warframe will re-enable the PhysX option in the menu but turning it on has no effect. There are still no PhysX effects in-game.

I have updated to latest drivers and the bug is still there. My main card is a gtx670 with a 440 dedicated to PhysX.

Would love to see a fix for this as the game looks far better with the fancy particles!

EDIT: Original drivers were 361.43, was working fine before patch. Tried updating to 364.47 driver, still no working PhysX in Warfame. Then rolled back to 362.00, still no working PhysX in Warframe. Tested some other PhysX enabled games and confirmed that issue is with Warframe only.

  11. Stop the bundles DE!!

It doesn't make any sense, so many people would love to spend platinum on the accessories they want to buy but instead choose not to spend anything at all because they don't want 80% of the bundled items.

Whatever you are trying to accomplish with this is backfiring, I have been happily playing this game and spending money on platinum for 2 years 8 months. Now, because I can't buy the accessories I want, for what appears to be no other reason than attepting to force players into spending more platinum than neccessary, MY WALLET HAS CLOSED.

I will continue playing this awesome game and look forward to DE returning to a less shady business model that I can justify supporting with my hard earned cash.

  12. This bundling nonsense makes me so upset, I realize DE has to make money but this isn't the way to do it... I like to pick and choose the items I buy because I don't have a lot of money for platinum. Now I've missed out on so many cool accessories because I'm not willing to blow all of my platinum on bundles crammed full of things I don't want.

It would be like going to the grocery store to buy a carton of milk, only to find out the milk is only available in the exclusive "Milk Bundle" that comes with pasta, an ice cream scoop, a carton of prunes and some coffee filters that aren't the right size...

I'm going to buy what I want or nothing at all, stop killing your business DE, please.

  14. DE please stop bundling accessories in these exclusive packs. I want to buy the new syndana, but I never play Rhino or use Jat Kittag, so this is a waste for me and I won't buy the bundle. So now I miss out on a cool syndana and I'm left with a bad feeling because I'm missing out due to you trying to be greedy or something. Please stop, I love this game and want to support it but I not if this carries on.

EDIT: Just saw that I can't use platinum to buy the new community made skins from steam workshop. I'm seriously never spending another cent on this game.

  15. I have a question about the different elemental dmg mods for weapons. There are many occasions where I would like to keep the base elements as they are without them automatically combining into something else, like fire and toxin turning to gas. Are there any plans to give us better control over the damage types?

  16. All the problems I have with the UI have been discussed to death already but I just wanted to add a post. It's the planet/node selection screen that really turns me off, just so bleh compared to the old starmap.

Warframe has been my favorite game for a long time now, I've had the tier 3 login reward for months, over 1000hrs of playtime and I've spent a fair amount on platinum. I excitedly played through the new prologue/new player experience, something I think the game really needed, then I got into the Liset. I was excited to check out my new ship but that quickly faded as I realized what happened to the UI. I played around with it for maybe 20 mins, saw how it all worked and logged out.

I haven't launched the game in 4 days and I've kind of been getting back into Firefall.

From Wikipedia article on User Interface Design:

The goal of user interface design is to make the user's interaction as simple and efficient as possible, in terms of accomplishing user goals—what is often called user-centered design.

Good user interface design facilitates finishing the task at hand without drawing unnecessary attention to itself. Graphic design may be utilized to support its usability, influencing how the user performs certain interactions and improving the aesthetic appeal of the design; design aesthetics may enhance or detract from the ability of users to use the functions of the interface. The design process must balance technical functionality and visual elements to create a system that is not only operational but also usable and adaptable to changing user needs.
  17. Ive stolen a pic from another thread to make a comparism

    This is the old menu:

    r7bt4cml.jpg

When i see is i could cry. Fast access to every feature. No clumpy, whirling, navigation in the ship. Fast access to every Altert or one click to the latest news. Quick change of online status. And so much more. Tears... R.I.P.

Just had to add my +1 to this topic, thank you for the wonderful post OP.

If the nav console in the ship just pulled up this old star map it would be a massive improvement.

As of right now looking sadly at this screenshot is the closest I'll get to playing Warframe. I love the new player experience and the ship, there are some really great additions to the game but the UI really is a gamebreaker for me. Being cut off from so much information and functionality, while having so much extra time added to ingame tasks has ruined my player experience. I want to play Warframe right now but the thought of struggling with the UI is actually keeping me from launching the game and instead I'm on the forums.

  18. I have noticed that my Field of View setting does not seem to work correctly all the time. There will be times I notice my FOV is zoomed right in, but when I check the setting in the menu it is still set to maximum. If I lower the FOV slider a tiny bit and hit apply the problem is corrected for a while but it will inevitably bug out and zoom in again.

The bug doesn't occur mid-level, the level will load up and the FOV will be bugged from the start. I noticed this several weeks ago but I'm not sure how long it has been happening.

  19. +1 I have almost stopped playing since the patch, I am so excited to learn melee 2.0 but this control scheme is not the way to do it! Awesome space ninjas need awesome control mappings!
