Recently: $150 for Khora Prime, $80 for Regal Aya and plat, $20 for my Tennocon ticket, $180 on the new artbook as soon as it was announced, $20 to play the other game they're publishing in EA, maybe another $130 to be a full founder if that game turns out good, all things I'm not even mad about and think were a good value for my money! Oh but if I don't want to spend another $90 I'm not really a 10-year supporter of the game. Man the Acolade really stings the longer I think about it :(

The accolade part of it stings the worst, out of all of it.  That, of all things, should NOT be behind a paywall, and should've been put in for those who had been either present during the 10th year anniversary, or who had been around for long enough that they can definitively say that they've supported the game for 10 years.

Even if the other stuff isn't fixed, the accolade part should, at the bare minimum, not be stuck behind that dang paywall.

While I don't think DE is some friendly neighborhood developers like some fans think, they have chose to be somewhat better then other companies with f2p games. People can be upset, we can't blame em for that.

Aye, people can indeed be upset on this one, especially since this is a bit of a big departure compared to how DE used to handle situations like this.  The last time we had a situation of this magnitude, we only really learned about after they had fixed it by removing the offending issue, and that was the paying platinum for randomizing the natural colours of one's kubrow, because it turned out to be too much of a slot machine.

I can only hope that we, as a community, are able to get through to them and get them to do the right thing.  I just somewhat fear that it may end up being a situation similar to what happened with the Hema research, where they say that because people already got it, they can't change it because it would be 'unfair'.  Granted, that's one that could've been fixed with a script in-game, whereas this one does also involve actual money, so, somewhat different, but similar as well... Hm...

Proto skins used to be time limited as well.

They did used to be time limited, and I do remember that part of the game's history as I had been around for it.  I also distinctly remember how it used to be that the stuff in the Founder's Program was supposed to be the only things that would never make a return, given how that Excalibur Prime, Lato Prime, and Skana Prime were supposed to remain a Founder's exclusive.  With how the Heirloom collection is being set up, it almost sounds like it may be a repeat of that, but... being done in a way that doesn't exactly feel as well set up as the original Founder's Program.

Warframe's at a point now where it has enough funding to not really worry about going under any time soon, so thus the need for something that's FOMO-esque in setup is not going to go over well... Especially with a game that for so long, managed to avoid that crap for the most part.

Predatory practices within the game only seemed to start to crop up once Tencent had managed to get hold of access to Warframe.  Inevitably, the monetization systems in a free to play game do have to adapt, as to keep up with times.   However, at the same time, those new systems need a means to be kept in check, otherwise they spiral out of control and become FOMO and other predatory tactics that are specifically keyed in such a way to psychologically manipulate others into purchasing.

  4. I will admit, I normally am more of a diehard fan for this game, for the most part.  However, the Heirloom Collection definitely gave me pause and made me wince.  This... this feels like a dangerous precedent that is going to be set, especially if there's ZERO way of earning the Heirloom skins within game, or obtaining them with platinum.  It hurts especially since the Frost Heirloom skin looks really good, but... I can't in good faith support a purchase like that.

I get it, DE needs money to run the game.  That being said, the way that this collection is being handled is... not good, and that's coming from a player that's been around for 9 years.  I'd be more fine with it had they just had a barebones pack with just the skins, or a means to obtain them in game.  However, locking it all behind a paywall of at least $70 if you want just the skins (And the stupid Regal Aya that is likely in there just to bolster the price) is scummy.

  5. You know, at some point, a mod's going to decide to close this thread for the lols, flat out say 'I win' and then just close it to further replies.  Calling it now.

So u want all frames to be "Umbra"!?

    Am I right?

We already have 1 umbra frame, so why we need another one?

    Where is the point?

What u will suggest tomorrow, chroma umbra, nova umbra, mesa umbra, rhino umbra....???

It's more a case here that Nidus Prime actually would not make much sense in the lore, and Nidus Umbra would end up making more sense, given the nature of the Infestation, Helminth, and the Warframe itself.

  7. @-GrT-BalexQQ As a reminder, the reason why there's a limit on Riven mod slots in the first place is the fact that Rivens take up a lot of data, as they are procedurally generated.  Not only that, but they also store the data of past rerolls on them, whether you accepted the cycling or kept to the old stats.  If they were to add more Riven slots to the maximum limit, they'd need to upgrade their database, which not only takes time, but also has the chance to take the game down for a while as it is done.  So, while more slots would be nice, it ultimately would become very taxing very quickly, in terms of player files on the database.

  8. Actually, we are capable of reaching MR 25, from what I have seen.  And, from what I can guess, it'll most likely be a mix of mostly weapons, with a fair few Warframes (Primes included, as well as potentially Umbras, should there be more than 1), Archwings (If they decide to continue making content for it), and Companions (Moa pets are in our future, with the Venus Landscape.   Unsure on other sentinels, though.)  As for the length of the game, it'll continue as long as the majority of the community still sticks around to play.

  9. Dear lord, this thread is still alive!? That's... That's honestly rather impressive.  Also, in before a moderator at some point just comes in, says "I Win" and closes the thread, because such a thing could potentially be inevitable.

    Who?

The one who originally got sued by Digital Homicide for over $10m for exposing their horrible practices... and won against them.

He should just not spend any until support clears so he doesn't get that negative plat balance or worse

Indeed.  If it turns out that the platinum came from any kind of fraudulent source, an individual could lose access to their account, until they pay off the negative balance.

I'm looking at the Vargeet II Jai and Vargeet Jai II links and their descriptions are the same but they are different and one requires a higher level for Cetus and I have no idea what the difference between the two are? Is there any way for me to see actual stat values for each Zaw part before making them?

Most likely the difference between them is the difference between distribution of Critical Chance and Speed.  Let's say for a moment that for each level of Vargeet, Jai, Ekwana, or Ruhang, it's about 5%.  Vargeet II Jai in this case means +10% Critical Chance, and +5% Speed, at the expense of 10% Status Chance, and 5% damage.  By that same logic, Vargeet Jai II would mean +5% Crit Chance and +10% Speed, at the expense of 5% Status Chance and 10% Damage.  I hope that this helps to understand the difference a bit better.  As for being able to see the stats of the Zaw parts before they are crafted, I do not think that there is any way to know for certain, as each part could potentially also be affected specifically by the Strike used, as that is the base part, and the part that counts as being used for Mastery

Use a glaive or other powerful throwing melee weapon. (maybe a gunblade? i don't remember if those produce sound or not) either way distance is key in that mission.

that's how i got through if i remember correctly.

Gunblades used to work, but, sadly now they do produce sound, at least for the charged shot.  Unless, of course, one uses a banshee, and utilizes her passive.
