Performance - Particle Effects

I was thinking it would be a good idea to add a slider to the graphics options for particles. My ~2 year old laptop handles 90% of the game pretty well, but mainly has issues with levels that have tons of particle effects. The biggest hitter to my performance are infected levels. They look awesome, however with all of the animations and stuff flying around, combined with the hoards of infected, my computer really starts to hurt. I also notice a dip in performance in the frozen levels as well. They have plenty of icy air particles floating around, and the excess of shiny surfaces makes it a double whammy.
