I don't have an elemental affinity, instead I have both "balance" affinities. Mages have two of these affinities, generally one balance and one elemental. I don't have an elemental focus, so I can only affect people directly. Mind magic is a dangerous duality. I have to touch a person's mind directly with both light and dark. Harnessing dark while influencing a person is dangerous, since people sway more towards light affinity. I'm sorry if I'm rambling a bit... You kind of are... and this seems kind of confusing...
