How To Improve Melee And Make It Viable[Suggestion]

Basically what kills melee for me is that enemies spread and most of this game is about long range. Melee is a nice mechanic but it doesn't compare to long range artillery. My idea was to have charge attacks have shockwaves. The longer the charge the bigger the shockwave. The max range should be around 25m and should deal 50% damage from the charge for the first 15m then 25% till it reaches 25m. This would help heavy melee because by the time you end charging someone already killed your target...

this would be ok, however, it would be giving every charecter the ability to basically use banshees first ability all the time with no cost other than charge time

 

it has no Knockdown/Stagger/etc just pure damage.

 

Except that the problem with melee at the minute isn't it's lack of range, but rather it's damage against lv100+ enemies.
