Why isn't Kuva Lich just Mastermind

Mostly the topic, but now that I've had my first run of lichdom, reading everything made it SOUND like mastermind, but in practice it's, well. It is, just one at a time. If you feel like grinding out murmurs then you get it in 3 stabs. If not it's probably closer to 8 considering you'll be force fed the possibilities from the failed stabs and then just have to figure out sequence still. Mastermind isn't the most engaging game for some people, but when you're so close to an established formulae, why change it?
