There should be ways for a two person group to slot in to another two person group, or for players in an open endless mission at about the same level of progress to join or have players added.

The same for open world areas or Railjacks would be beneficial as well, as opposed to having the group split up and having to frantically invite the other person to the new group.

For endless missions, if someone is on wave 20, and continues on, and another player on the same map hits wave 20, they'd be merged.

 

By the same token, there are times a player may crash and their space is taken by another player, and they still get the message asking if they want to rejoin the prior group. If a person crashes, that spot should be held for a few minutes to allow them to rejoin.

 

Joining Fortuna missions have other issues, as far as leaving the mission rather than having the option to break group and return to Fortuna, or to continue on either in free mode or taking a new bounty. There are also instances of full missions when there are still open spots. I think revisiting the matchmaking code and applying some reworks or an overhaul will improve player experience as well as minimize bugs.
