Have you considered that Melees can hit multiple targets? 8k DPS on one target. You consistently hit 3 targets, 24k DPS omigod so brokenz?! Oh, don't forget it doesn't use ammo either, and it gets multiplier effects from certain skills. If you're going to be a number junkie, still try not to be too dense.

After factoring in resistances, you get a 400% damage boost from stealth multipliers, then apply that to multiple targets and it's no wonder you'll rarely fall below 50% of damage done in a mission using a Galatine with Ash/Loki.
