How are they distributed? i know or rather i think its supposed to be that if you use your sword and no other weapon the sword gets xp and if you use the pistol/sword and mainly use the pistol then the pistol gets more xp

but what the game does for me is that its giving me xp to weapons i havent even used. i just did the jackal boss and only used the fist weapons the whole round the game gave me 5784xp to my rifle (WTF?) and 1243xp to my fist weapon.

is the game bugged or is it just screwing with me?

Normally I've experienced the weapons you use are the ones that get leveled up.

That said, whatever "main weapon" you're wielding while hacking will get the affinity points (if you successfully do it while holding your sidearm, it'll get the XP, so you could, say, swap weapons before hacking a terminal) and I think it goes to whatever gun you're holding if an ally gets the kill. I could be wrong though.

but what about the melee weapons or those are supposed to be harder to level?
