Squad-Based Competition, The Lotus Arena

Since DE already given a diplomatic NO to PvP in Warframe, we need some form of competition in Warframe to make things more interesting than regular PvE match. This idea stem from FFVII arena battle on the Golden saucer.

Basically, we need something small and easily implemented in Warframe's competitive side in order to keep the game true to it's PvE content and P2P network. I present to you The Lotus Arena.

Lore : The Lotus Arena is a virtual arena built within the Mercury tower in order to train Tenno before venturing out into the field. However, with all the datamasses we collected, some of them contiained ship scematics which our ever efficient overlord managed to copy and put them into the virtual device. Since then, the virtual device became more realistic and the enemies within it became more an more varied. It became a sport among Tenno in their free time.

Concept : TLA (The Lotus Arena) is meant to be a competitive side of Warframe without touching core PvE content or making anything more than DE have to do in the first place. A squad of players enter a circular arena specifically designed for this mode and blast enemies within it.

Score and leaderboard.

The score is based on

1. Difficulty : Higher difficulty = Higher level mobs with more elites = Bigger score.

2. Handicap : Various handicaps can be placed upon the match. The more severe handicap, the better reward. The handicaps could be ranged from number of player, restrict mod capacity to 30 or 15, no pistol, no long gun, no power, ramping up difficulty,no ammo drop, no energy orb drop etc.

3. Wave complete and time taken to finish in case of final wave completion are part of the calculation. Overtime will resulted in no score from this part.

One TLA match divided into three phases.

1. Preparation phase. You select initial Faction/Difficulty and the first handicap (obviously, some handicaps like number of player and mod point restriction are among the first you can choose). Then players adjust their own weapon/frame according to the chosen handicap.

2. Arena phase. Player(s) enter the arena and fight the enemies. One TLA match consists of 10 waves. Every two waves players' ammo and energy will be restored. However, whether they choose to refill or not, an addition handicap can be chosen. Additional handicap will net more score at the end of the match.

During the match players may be asked to complete additional objectives for extra reward like rare mod.

3. End of match phase. If the tram got wiped or manage to finish 10th wave. They exit the arena with total score and statistic (best melee kill, best range kill, best revive, etc) which could be used as an achievement system. The score also determines end of arena credit/other rewards gain.

Thought, suggestion?

Yah... Um... They never said No to PvP. They said thats not their priority atm.

They said they will add some sort of PvP function later in a Q&A but right now... They need to continue fixing bugs, making frames, making weapons all that. Cause by adding a completely new system, its going to make a SH*T ton of bugs... So, um No.
