How Many Egg Can You Have At One Time?

Been farming eggs in Earth, got 1 incubating, another one from farming but I failed to see where it is. Can't find it in my inventory. I continued farming and got another one but can't pick it up, it says I already have one and cannot carry more than 1 egg at a time. During that mission I don't have any egg on me. What's the deal here?
