[Suggestion] Vip Mode

Requires a minimum team of 2 (1 escort, 1 VIP) to escort VIP throughout certain parts of map on a mission to arm a time-bomb, hack or repair.

-A random Tenno is selected to be a Technician (VIP icon above head) and only equipped with a pistol (cannot melee or use Tenno skills).
-Whilst hacking, arming, or repairing: expect waves of normal melee-enemies in the duration each objective is engaged (minimum of 1 min duration).
-Objective such as "repair" or "arm bomb" has 1 or 2 ammo crates in area if needed (no health or shield restore).
-If objective requires to arm a time-bomb, team and VIP must escape within the time limit, or mission failure if timed out.
-If objective requires hacking, no supply crates are available, but team can choose to activate turret/s (if Tenno side turret is possible) before proceeding with hack.
-VIP cannot be revived, but team can escape if VIP completed all objectives before death.
-If VIP dies before completing all objectives, mission fails.
-Bonus exp and money rewarded if team escapes with VIP.

VIP mode should be available from maps level 4+ either as side or main mission (optional, minimum 2 players).

This would be a good feature (encouraging team work) if it is possible, lets see what the Devs say. Feel free to add any other ideas regarding VIP Mode.

I have a few conflicting opinions about this suggestion.

On the upside, it looks unique. I like the thought behind it. I like that it encourages teamwork. I think it'd be a great game mode to play with friends since you know you can count on them.

On the downside, you can't control who the VIP is. This is a problem. It can either be the Tenno who's a walking fortress and doesn't even need an escort anyway, or a tenno who's so squishy that a single stun/knock down will effectively mean mission over. The former defeats the purpose of this mode, and the latter would bring many missions of frustration as a PUGger whose armor consists of something similar to toilet paper decides to rush ahead and gets murdered.

The way some missions work with the carry case is a nice in between. The person carrying the case is the 'VIP' and has to reach the destination safely. If they die, someone else can pick the case up and they become the VIP. I think these are probably more than enough to classify as 'VIP' missions, even though you're not really a 'VIP'. You're just a Tenno carrying a shiny case around.

I don't know if you have noticed, but 1 Tenno alone is like a @(*()$ 1 man army, even with a pistol they are uber OP. This wouldn't work they way you have presented it now.

That depends on what rank you are and how well you're equipped (it takes me 4-6 body shots with pistol to take down 1 enemy, but I'm a low geared rookie, but I don't expect enemies to be 1 shot weaklings).

Although this can have player rank restrictions so that a high rank cannot join a low rank VIP Mode. In your own rank, the Devs can adjust the strength of enemies so they are not 1 shot. If it's too easy, make it a hard right?

Keeping the pessimism aside, open minded opinions can make this mode a success. Warframe is on Beta, there is plenty of time to test and try out new ideas and features. We all want Warframe to be more fun after all?

I understand, some work needs to be done such as the workaround of what VIP would and wouldn't be able to do. I only allowed a pistol so the VIP doesn't go on their own (just an example), they would need support to defeat enemies and be protected from harm.

Just played the game a little and noticed at the Escape point in the end which we have to wait for other players to reach the escape point with countdown timer. What if the timer system was also used for Escort reaching the objective before the VIP (if the VIP is late or lost, the system will automatically respawn VIP to the objective location, or the other way round: VIP at objective, escort lost or wandering).

As for VIP being weak or too strong, maybe the Devs are able to balance them out by giving VIP some sort of buff that either adds their HP or defence stats, or subtracts it. Same ways as all guns and skills are disabled (except standard pistol, not your own purchased weapon).

I like the Shiny Case VIP mode too, this would also work, but there are people who just play to mess around. One way to eliminate that is to set timer in how long players are able to carry a case, then it'll automatically respawn to the last pickup point. Do you think you could make your suggestion thread for seperate types of VIP modes? I'd +1 you on that.

I think this mode is similar to Drone escort in ME3. Some changes should be made to the OP to make it more realistic.

The escort should be an AI (perhaps a sentinel to lessen pathing problem) which will lessen the issue when playing with PUG. At least 1 player must be within the range of the drone in order to 'move' it. While the drone is hacking/arming device, it needs at least half of the team within vicinity in order to working. The more players within the radius, the faster it works.

When all objectives are completed, the sentinel dissolved and the timer initiated. Run for you life.

Maybe the VIP would have no shields, given amount of HP and weapons given by game (so nothing OP), or weapons he has currently equiped, but without mods effetcts. That would make him something what would had to be protected.

Good idea, Im thinking that it should go like " One tenno (The VIP) lost his armor, and you need to rescue him/her."

The Mission would go like a standard rescue, but a player would play the rescued one.

This way it would be able to limit the  VIPs abilities ,and the developers wouldn't need to create another model.

This gamemode probably wouldn't work very well. First of all, I don't think many people would like being randomly selected to lose all the abilities that make warframe unique, and you're putting too much reliance on their competence and support from teammates. With PUGs, you'll get teammates that don't help, and VIPs that just leeroy jenkins.
