Dancingfirefly
I thought of a great idea to include difficulty alteration while keeping the player base together. This difficulty increase is what I like to call 'Handicaps'. These are basically toggles that you can trigger on or off in between missions. A handicap has two effects. 1) It increases the likelyhood of finding uncommon/rare mods in a drop, and also increases the amount of credits earned from credit drops. 2) It alters the difficulty for that particular player on an individual, personal level, experienced by them when with other players using different handicaps. For instance. . Darwin's Law: The Tenno is a victim of Darwinism whenever they are struck down. The Tenno does not 'bleed out' but instead transition straight into death if defeated. Increases credits earned by 5% and chance of improved drops by 2%. Recklessness: The Tenno has no sense of caution and tends to leave him or herself more vulnerable to attack. Increases damage from all attacks by 20%. Increases credits earned by 5% ad chance of improved drops by 2%. Unsteady: The Tenno is unsteady. Screen shaking effects and knockdowns last one second longer than before. Increases credits earned by 5% ad chance of improved drops by 2%. Butter-Fingers: Oops! The Tenno has a tendency to drop a clip when reloading and has to handle it a bit more carefully. Increases reload duration by 50%. Increases credits earned by 5% and chance of improved drops by 2%. Subpar Hacker: The Tenno's ability to hack is a little underpar. Whenever they 'successfully' complete a hack attempt, up to three of the symbols will spin out of place and require realignment. Only occurs once per hack attempt. Increases credits earned by 5% ad chance of improved drops by 2%. In these examples, a Tenno could choose to take all handicaps to increase credits earned from drops by 25% and chance of getting a higher rarity drop by 10%. There can be a limit as to how many handicaps a Tenno can take, or maybe they can just go wild and take every single handicap for both much higher rewards and a much steeper difficulty. They can then group with other Tenno who have different handicaps for a more varied, difficult, or even teamwork oriented experience. Bad at hacking? Let someone else do it.
