That room is just annoyingly, preposterously tall compared to just about every other room on the asteroid base tileset, compounded by the fact you have to run back and forth across the room, and it doesn't even have the decency to let you quickly jump down by being stuck at the top as opposed to at the bottom.

 

Having it unworking is basically a slap in the face.
