Personal stance on the weekend operations : Positive

Setting: 4 Man LAN party fueled by orange drink and red meat

Reaction to reward: Credits and a tease to a beautiful looking frame variant , excited , giddy, honestly didn't know what to expect , in short pleasantly surprised

So what can we do better?

1st as a community we need to calm the rage and try to be understanding AND constructive. This was a bold step in a new direction for DE and while some elements of it could be seen as controversial and poorly footed they still decided to take that step. If it was shaky then we as a community should come and lend a guiding hand , not a kick to the face sending them spiraling back into the 300 pit of madness.

Lets be friends!

I had a blast, reward or no reward screaming at the hordes with my friends. Wall running , hacking , slashing, smashing.

As a community we pushed back the MOA terror. When you think of it in the numbers what we accomplished was amazing reaching the goal a good 10+ hours ahead of time. An entire army of Tenno. Be glad that we were part of something larger than any one individual.

-----------------------End reward rant

-----------------------Start future feed back

Things that DE did right.

Operations concept- Weekend events to mobilize the users , very effective , the next level if alerts were the first. This makes Warframe spontaneous. In the RP element its the Tenno responding to critical missions that could change the balance of the system. Its the entire will of the Tenno rising up to crush a dark possible future. Teamwork , its cool.

But we lost a bit in the middle as it was mass grinding for a vague goal. We have a whole weekend here lets mix it up a bit yea?

I popped the idea in another thread but the completion status of the operation could be used to trigger a stage like event.

So IE at 30 percent a new ability on the MOAs(we can use this idea for future events) is activated making them harder to kill or more deadly like a leap/pounce.

at 60 percent a random mini-boss would start showing up in missions similar to the stalker. In this case FUSION MOA themed like a hive mind command unit. Would be very strong and its appearance rate is proportional to fusion moa kill counts so people that have spent the time to contribute more to the fight get a higher chance to fight this elusive mini boss that would also yield rare mods or hard to get mats.

at 90 percent the faction would put down its last stand. Start launching special operations only alerts every 30 or so mins  that are relatively short in length but actually contain a weekend exclusive boss. Bosses are cool.

-----------------------

How do we reward players that really bring the bulk of the fight to the operation?

Lets make heroes.

For example reward Icons. Currently the number of portrait icons in warframe can only be called low with some of these unlock able by credits or plat. Exclusive one time only portraits that are event related would be huge incentives to get out there and participate.

This would be a tiered reward system. so kill one fusion moa , you get a bronze lvl pic that says "hey I was there"

kill 50 or a percentage in the ranking of moa kills and you get a silver level avatar thats more ornate than the bronze one. So on and so on for further levels of dedication to the fight so maybe a total of 4 normal possible icons.

As the game has a leader board for kills a ONE TIME icon given to top 10 fusion moa kills would be the highest and rarest icon possible.

A badge of honor - doesn't change the balance of the game , promotes play , and rewards dedication, lets people brag.

-----------------------------

How do we make the event more exciting?

Lets take the heroes concept into a gameplay sense then.

Event exclusive buffs. As far as I know very few people use the one off items in Warframe like ammo replenishment or hp heals. So lets reward the harder playing Tenno.

Mobs that are part of the event drop tiered buffs.

One time use they buff the warframe for a set amount of time to better combat the hordes that the operation targets.

In lore we can see this as the Tenno learning and understanding their enemy to better destroy them.

Common fusion moa have a chance of dropping a weekend only buff that would slightly increase their resistance to damage from fusion moa.

The rare spawn Moa mini boss would drop better buffs that stack and only apply for that weekend that make warframes into specialized moa killing machines.

Kill more moa - easier to kill moa - hero mode through hero persistence.

--------------------------

Whats important is not only community mobilizing content but also a continuing Warframe narrative.

PvE needs story to truly flourish and events like these have the potential to weave huge storylines both in the warframe universe and in the personal one between fellow players.

For example the community can have to possible targets for a weekend. A uprising in one part of the system and another totally on the other side of the system. Which ever one the community crushes first moves the naritive forward and implies that the other was left unchecked. The Tenno win one battle at the cost of losing another the flaw of being so small in number.

Just some ideas I'm throwing around , freedback would be great!

thanks for taking the time to read this :D

I like the event-exclusive buffs idea. Rewards players who are more actively involved but also means that people who can't be as active don't feel as if they're missing out on content (since it's only for the event).

Also, for the reward badges, make it set target numbers rather than percentage based. Percentage based means you're deliberately excluding players from ever getting content despite effort. A set target means it's up to them whether they can get it or not.

Fun post. Totally agree that the weekend was a success. So fun and unexpected

+1 for some unique forum badge kudos. Either to individuals or the clans that organized and slapped those moas

+1 for a unique boss that is super active for a weekend. Mini-bosses dropping left and right -- really interfering with missions on a specific planet.

Great event. Great reward. 100% happy with DE
