Issue With Mods Currently

I love that we are adding more (and varied mods) into the game.  The issue we are already starting to run into is, is it worth it to lose damage mods for mods that are interesting or mechanic changing?  

For example, Handspring is really neat and I would love to use it.  However, I can't justify removing any of my survivability just to be able to get up a fraction of time faster.  I would love to see ways to combine mods abilities together (maybe it will be possible with the "lab" in the Dojos?).

There would have to be limits on what can, and cant, be combined.  I would love to hear suggestions below on any ideas of how this issue can be solved and still allow the development of creative and useful mods.
