RainDreamer Posted May 10, 2013 Share Posted May 10, 2013 Very simple: Upon the last few hp of a boss, the boss will be stunned/knocked down like player reaching 0 hp, and players are given a prompt to perform an execution move on the boss, and this would be done by simply attack the boss within range of the prompt, completed with special angled camera and animations. The animation would be depending on the type of weapon used (for range, weapon currently on hand, so either handgun or maingun execution depending on what player is holding), and faction/race/type (so Grinner boss would different from corpus and such, humanoid would be different from moa + charger). If left alone for 20 seconds the boss would just bleed out and die, like players. There are a few reasons for this: 1. It enhances the feeling that you are killing a real boss, not an advanced meat bag soaking your bullets. A boss deserve this special treatment. 2. It prevents loots from flying off map. Execution would cause loots drop right where the boss die. 3. It opens the possibility for harder, multi-stages boss where you might have to knockdown + execute boss a few times to finish. 4. It gives a feel of variety to bosses. So far, bosses feel like there are only these kinds of bosses: Boss that can use abilities, boss that can shoot, melee boss. Jackal is the only exception. 5.
