My laptop isn't exactly high end, and while I turn off most of the visual effects (excluding colour correction), the game FPS still drops dramatically whenever I apply an elemental mod to my melee weapon, if there was a graphical option to turn this off, I would fall to the ground and cry with happiness for my overheating GPU.

Good call.  The DEs have stated that they are working on optimization for low and medium hardware setups.  Something like this would fall directly into what we hope they're working on already.

I'd like to be able to turn off the sound effects. I stopped putting lightning mods on my melee weapons simply because the electricity sound played every two seconds in the game menus.

Sweet, I can't wait to turn off those pesky particles, or at least tone them down!

I would like the option to turn of screenshake. I can't really use my Scindo because of this.
