[Fanfiction] Capture

The halls were silent, nothing but the soft hums of nearby consoles and the steady condensed drops of liquid water dripping from the pipes above. The sounds of sweet stillness lasted for a brief period of time, before the crackling roars of gunfire began to erupt from deep within the galleon. A nearby door abruptly opened, its mechanical metal panels flung wide. Heavy footsteps grew louder with every thundering step, their glowing orange eyes illuminating the rusted metal walls of the Galleon lower levels.

“Hold position,” the commander held up his fist.

Ten elite lancers froze in place as soon as they heard their commander’s rasping synthesized voice. With great care, the commander steadily removed a device of orange and gold from his utility box strapped to his right armored thigh.

The Khelzehmk, after long toiling months of research, is a hybrid device imbued with the intricate circuitry of both Orokin and Grineer technology. It effectively prohibits any void essence from radiating its presence to others of its kind. The device sheaths any void energy to become “invisible” to other void driven technology by the manner of canceling out its radiated energy with its polar equivalent. The only working prototype of its kind, in the hands of a single commander. The Gustrag Three, as fearsome as they are on the battlefield, cannot be trusted to keep such a device from being destroyed, be it the enemy or themselves.

A red warframe emanating with a green aura was spotted breeching the lower decks. It was shown to have near invincible capabilities as well as the disturbing ability to leech life and energy from their fellow lancers. It accurately fits the description of what Tyl Regor had requested. All this research, all this time. The future of his laborious research weights upon the shoulders of the commander and his squad. If their mission is to succeed, then the future of the Grineer Empire shall be prosperous indeed. With its healing factors utilized for Grineer use, the final cure for their crippling genetic degradation draws near.

“Delta, console. Now,”

The lancer obeyed without question as he quickly darted to a nearby console.

“Target distance?” The commander inquired, but with a tone with strict authority.

“Three units from our position,” the lancer scanned the map before doing a double take, “No. It’s approaching. It’s now two units from our position,” he replied before jogging back behind solid cover.

They initially planned to drag along another prototype. A large, heavy cargo container with a built in suppressive field. It had the powerful effect of incapacitating any Tenno unfortunate enough to come into range from using their apocalyptic abilities. However, it was deemed too impractical to bring along and the squad had more luck improvising their tactics.

“Now or never,” the commander muttered with anxious anticipation. He gripped his Grakata tightly. The Khelzehmk had the drawback of firmly attached to a surface to have any prominent effects.

 “On the count of ten,”

His squad of elite lancers all nodded in unison. A sudden explosion startled the squad. Loose electrical wires previously hung on the ceiling was now freely swaying back and forth.

“Nine seconds,”

The familiar gun report of both Grakatas and Hinds were being drowned out by something even more sinister. Its gunfire was loud, heavy and slow, but with devastating stopping power.

“Seven seconds,”

The bloodcurdling screams of their fellow lancers grew louder. The metallic sounds of ricocheting bullets and slamming bodies reverberated around the walls.

“Five seconds,”

His squad hastily checked their Hinds to see that their selector switch is set to burst-fire. Their hearts rapidly pulsed with fear, their brows now pooled with sweat.

“Four,”

The commander prepared to activate his trusted teleporting technology.

“Three,”

Grineer gunfire from the adjacent room fell silent.

 “Two,”

Its swift metallic footsteps grew louder towards their position with every passing millisecond.

“One,”

The large door flew open, revealing the dreaded warframe in all its bloodied glory. In a blink of an eye, two elite lancers fell to its golden bolt-firing weapon. The commander, suppressing his fear with determination, immediately initiated his teleporting ability. Within a split-second, the commander temporarily bent the fabric of space to his whim. The Tenno, dazed by its sudden displacement, tried to aim but missed; its head is still spinning from disorientation. Its shot went wide and glazed the shoulder armor of the commander. Without hesitation, he lunged at the dizzied Tenno with the Khelzehmk.

WILL THE COMMANDER EMERGE VICTORIOUS OR WILL THE TENNO SURVIVE THE AMBUSH

STAY PERPETUALLY TUNED
