Clean Up The Grandmaster's Names On Planets... Looks Awful.

This is BRILLIANT!!

Would add more background info to the bosses as well as cleaning up the solar landmarks in the process, Two Ospreys one Bolt so to speak

 

 

Would not mind this at all either, would you have enough time to read the names though? Only thing i can see being a problem, otherwise, Great idea Zackai

With there only being 7-10 names, I think it would be relatively easy, but I would need to go finish a mission again to really see how long it takes, as I usually glaze over that part lol.

Well my idea, (hope noone posted it before) would be also the "monumental solution" but what about translating the names in the in-game language (as far as i understand there seem to be writings all around the floor, the walls etc.) and u can click on them to see the full names or something like that. This way people wouldnt have to worry about "xXxNarutoBankaiSaiyanIchigo69YOLOSWAG360noscopexXx" for example for it would be those simple lines....and if you are still interested you could click on that to read the full name. I'm pretty tired atm so it might be a bad idea but it was the first thing to come to my sleepy mind.

no, kantazo, there are at least 8-9 names per planet.

In the pictures posted by the OP I only see 1 name per each object in the picture. Or those blue dots should not have names (the locked things too)?

I like the idea of a tile/room that could randomly be placed in the mission.  Have it keyed to the planet, so Pluto would have one that had the names of the pluto people on it... mars would have same room, but mars names... etc.

 

Other thing that might be cool.  Make it a REQUIRED room for the Boss planet.  Like set it just outside the room/tile in which the boss is located.  Not only does that mean you have to see it to get to the boss, it could also be a marker saying "hey, next room is boss room."

I really like this idea.

 

I also have no problem with the current lots of names just disappearing. They look so bad like that :/

 

I'm sure it was a great idea when DE thought they'd only get a couple of GMs per planet but then they did extend the "Founders" program a hell of a lot.

They should just make one name appear at a time for like 3 seconds, then it fades away and new name pops up. Make it a fixed rotation that doesn't reset when you enter a mission and that way it gets cleaned up and is much more elegant/functional.

Not if the room is a trophy/relic room.  I dunno, i think DE could come up with something cool for each boss that would make sense and yet still serve the purpose.  

 

For example, Tyl Regor could have a lab with sample jars and cloning pods around the room with the peoples names on them...

Sargas Ruk could have a room with display cases showing off the stuff he stole from all the dig sites.

 

It would add more flavor to the boss himself (Tyl Regor being a gene specialist, Sargas Ruk being a treasure hunter etc) and be a way to have the names prominent on a given planet.  This could be expanded to give each boss his own full blown room for the encounter rather than the same tile as a random ship, just with a boss in it.

 

Quoting myself seems a little iffy but i didnt want to retype.  I think these things have real possibility. I'm also flattered by your interest in them.

i personally don't keep my cursor over the level for so long, to see all the names.. EVER

They said they were looking at a big UI overhaul but couldn't push it with U8.

 

They didn't explicitly address the poor format of the GM solar landmarks, but since many things will be changing with the UI I would think this could as well.

 

They probably will not be hotfixing this single UI issue earlier than the full UI re-launch, so I would just wait and see what happens when they do push the new UI.

 

If the new UI is only the ingame (in a mission) UI though, then there's a problem I think. 

 

Regardless - it's good to keep this thread bumped a bit so the dev's continue to be reminded of this issue.

Thinking about he idea of actually visiting a landmark, what if there was a dojo style mission you could join which listed the grand masters on signs / statues / whatever.

 

It could be the "High Council"  dojo.

 

Maybe this dojo could serve a dual purpose where you could get a random buff (increased credits received from each drop, affinity, rifle does 1.1x dmg, pistol does +dmg, etc.) It would be both a hangout place to walk around in - and it could have areas accessible only to certain founder's levels. One hall only disciple and up and enter, then hunter and up etc. 

 

If possible it'd be cool if you could still launch to another mission while in this 'council dojo'.

so what's the benefit, if we, non-founders, can't see it? you don't agree that making special boss rooms instead of solar landpiles is better?
