FallingHeaven
When equipping multiple mods that deal the same elemental damage, It appears that they act as one single mod, at least when combining with other elemental. 0 VKhaun
Mods are combined in order, using the first instance of that element. Heat + Cold + Toxic + Heat = Blast + Toxic 1234 across the top, 5678 across the bottom. If the weapon has an element for base damage, like the flamethrower Ignis which is base heat, that counts as being in imaginary slot #9.
0 Arrectius
Check the wiki, here http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_2.0 scroll down until elemental damage combination. There you will find all about it.
