A Guide For Picking What To Start With

Question

With the sheer amount of frames and weapons, it can sometimes be overwhelming or confusing on what you should try to build first, and where your focus should be for improving the gear that you already have. Hopefully you encounter someone in game that will provide some assistance in clearing the maps if you can't solo, but whether you have someone helping you out or not, its always useful to get a bearing for what you should be doing.

*the basics*

If you skipped the tutorial, then maneuvering may be difficult for you in the beginning. The best thing to do before really settling into the game is to adjust your keybindings so that your left hand feels relaxed in its positioning. This can be decided by simply resting your fingers on the AWD keys and seeing where your pinky rests. If it rests on the shift key, you may want to re-bind the Hold To Crouch to capslock and change the Toggle Crouch to something out of the way like the * symbol. Binding the crouch key to capslock allows your hand to rest easily and will make it easier to slide during combat or when running around. If your pinky rests a bit lower, like at the CTRL button, you may not have to re-bind your keys at all.

Some helpful tips on getting around faster were mentioned in the tutorial, but there were some that weren't included that make you move much faster than simply running. For instance, if you bullet jump(slide+jump) then you can move slightly faster, and if you roll while sliding (roll is the left ALT button) you will find that you move much faster. This is also very useful when trying to dodge enemy fire or to remove leech-like enemies that attach to you and damage you. If you come across a long gap, try bullet jumping and then holding the right mouse button to glide across the gap. If you need to get a feel for your surroundings in a large area, simply look straight up, hold crouch, and press jump to launch into the air, then hold Aim glide and look around. It will give you an overhead view of the area that can allow you to see far away enemies or resource caches.

*Decisions decisions*

After playing with one of the starter frames and weapons, you may get a feel for different play styles. Some people prefer charging in with a melee weapon. Others may prefer spraying the enemies with rapid fire, or sniping from a distance. Another option would be to use your warframe abilities to gain an edge over the enemies. If your frame tends to lose its shield rapidly, you may think about ranking up Redirection or Vitality and putting it on your frame to allow for a longer life in combat. If you don't seem to be getting hit, you may want to maximize the abilities of the warframe with Intensify,Flow,Streamline, and Continuity.

Many people are accustomed to having different roles in multiplayer games, and Warframe is no exception. If you prefer being a healer, damage dealer, tank, or stealthy then don't worry; There are frames for every role and some that mix the roles well. To save time I'll simply list the frames and what roles they tend to be used for.

Tanks{Rhino, Valkyr, Frost, Wukong, Atlas, Nezha, Zephyr}

Healers/Support{Limbo,Nekros, Mag,Nova, Nyx, Trinity, Volt, Vauban}

Damage dealers{Ash, Ember, Equinox, Excalibur, Hydroid,Mesa, Oberon, Saryn}

Stealth{ Banshee, Loki, Ivara}

I'll update further when I have the time;The next addition will be weapons and companions.
