I hope DE uses this weekend's Thousand Cuts event to do some analyzing on the current state of Sword Alone.

I would take a look at the combo system from Black Desert Online for an example of what a fairly good melee system is. 

 

It is simple and intuitive. The abilities can also be comboed easier.

My gripe with melee is that after you roll or do an air slash there is a delay before you can start to melee again.  This really stood out for me during this event as I like to roll alot to close the gap between me and an enemy only having to wait a second before I can actually hit him after I reach him.

So frustrating
