This is probably due to the fact that you get fifty platinum upon finishing the introduction to the game. They could implement resource-only trading at the moment, because you can't buy resources. You could also have clan dojo trading rooms, but then everyone has to have a clan key to enter. You would then have to get the resources required before trading anything.
