Knockdown Recovery Action.

This is a standard in action games. When being hit with a knockdown attack, you have a certain time-frame (e.g. 1 or 2 seconds) to hit the jump button to recover from knockdown and this maneuver will cost stamina to perform.

Or roll away from the mob while your down to avoid getting hit again.

 

You can't roll while you're knocked down.

Yea...I was hoping for something like this.

Instead they just added handspring (which can totally be used along what you're suggesting).
