Fragment collecting

Sorry if this sounds stupid but I've only been playing since yesterday and the learning curve is quite overwhelming. I've tried to search it but can't find the answer so can someone tell me how to collect fragments. I see them but can't pick them up. Tried pressing all the buttons which doesn't work so can only guess I need to do something.

You need to purchase Codex scanners from the market (I believe they're 5 credits each) or you can get some Simaris scanners from the relay (Although they be locked behind a quest? Not entirely sure)

Once you have them, equip them in your gear wheel via the arsenal. Then when ingame, open up your gear wheel and select the scanner and scan the fragment. That's how you "collect" them. You'll see progress for said fragment every time you scan one!
