Let me explain how things work: You are putting real money to get platinum, it has a exchange course, but the whole thing is 1)one-directional 2)controlled only by DE's conscience. That's why they can easily throw those events with "Make a best vid to get 1000 plat". Because, while platinum costs something to players it has nothing behind a number near the little fancy icon, which placed as a complex near the same worth-of-nothing credit complex.

 

Trying to bring stealing things and beggars in this fight is similar to whining about pirates. I live in country where being able to get 4000 copies of book was something to be proud of like a writer. Soon after internet came here, 4000 copies became a "testing-a-water" party for those who has absolutely no name in profession.
