when people resort to several tools outside of the game for match making:

Lack of match making functionality (grouping, dungeon finder) has been a problem for virtually every rpg/mmo upon its release and still is a problem with many ("lfg" in global chat isn't exactly ideal either), in spite of the fact that it is an obstacle to the primary purpose of those games (multiplayer), and in spite of the numerous out-of-game solutions that have been devised.

Interestingly this used not to be a problem back in the stone-age of computer games, when all we had were games such as Quake. Back then we had server browser tools that provided a global list of multiplayer servers that could be filtered and sorted by various criteria to quickly find a multiplayer game that could be joined. Eventually one of those tools became the standard (before it was surpassed by build-in game-specific server finders), and then it moved on to bigger things; Gamespy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameSpy.

example (not Gamespy):

Such a list might not look as flashy as Warframe's mission map, but it is a heck of a lot more useful.

Here's hoping DE has put the functionality of such tools in the game by the time Warframe gets out of beta.

I'll expand this.

In one game (don't remember the name) in RPG style you could also host p2p session up to 4 guys.

The hoster actively created the game, had to chose the mode (easy - uber hard) and could give a TITLE, a DESCRIPTION, a LEVEL RANGE and also exclude PuGs and other minor stuff.

Why is it so hard to implement that? I could create a T3 Mob.Def | Bring maxxed gear | lvl of Frame 30-30

which would be accesible through a browser-esque menu instead of that strange stellar map? Don't get me wrong, but just because there is a mission it's not set in stone everyone wants to play it the X-style (rusher, explorer, xp, mat or keyfarming...)

Sounds similar to the DDO (dungeons & dragons online ) group finder

LFG T3.  They could significantly cut down the amount of chat clutter if they implemented Void match making (OFC you could still hand pick your squad by setting it to invite only).

It's sometimes also difficult to find a group playing a mission I want, so I either have to repeatedly check multiple missions or start solo and hope somebody jumps in.  I think an option to join a squad at the planetary level could reduce the searching and waiting (ex: I join an Earth squad, then we all vote on a mission).

This should not have to be the case in a game with about 10000 people logged in at any time.

Though it does not help that the player base is diluted across so many missions (dungeons, quests, instances). This might sound strange but sometimes less content is better.

Match making has been mentioned in the latest livechat so i'm sure it will be improved. I just hope DE will break with the mmo tradition of shooting oneself in the foot by making the finding of groups hard and time consuming, and will instead make it quick and easy.
