Point Of Upgrading The Ammo Conversation Mods?

I figure it makes it so you get more ammo per pickup for the weapon with the mod on it but how much does it increase since it doesn't say in the description of the mod card how much ammo gets converted at its first lvl and I'd rather not waste mods upgrading it to find it does nothing.
