Does Elemental Mods Do More Damage On Armor Ignoring Weapon ?

Question

I know that weapons which have some kind of armor ignoring damage, are better when facing high level enemies because of the armor scaling of these enemies.

What I am not sure what is happening with elemental mods, such as fire damage, freeze damage etc. when shooting high level enemy ? Will damage added by these mods be also much higher then if these mods were put on non armoring ignoring weapon of the similiar stats ?

For example. hellfire mode does 90% additional fire damage.

90% of what exactly ? Base weapon damage and added seration, of course, but what happens then in calculations ?

Are these values REDUCED when using non armor ignoring weapon ? When fighting high level enemies, without AI weapon you might get very low damage for example only 5 instead of 20 etc.

If elemental damage is calculated from those puny 5 points of damage, that would mean that elemental mods also suffer when put on non AI weapon.

Or maybe elemental damage is calculated of whole 20 damage without armor ignoring taken into equation ?

What then happens if we do use AI weapon ? How is value calculated then ?

Are maybe elemental mods useless no metter what weapon you use ? Maybe their damage calculations always take armor into account even when using AI weapon ?

And only benefit of AI weapon is its base damage+mod which increase it ( serration, hornet strike etc.. ) ?

Elemental stuff is based off your unmitigated hit.  Try using a dread with and without AP (no other mods for easiest to observe results) and hitting a high level grineer and its completely obvious.

So no, AP/AI doesn't matter for damage from elemental mods.

Dread doesn't have AP or AI. Paris has.

Dread deals Blade-Damage, which is affected by armor. Paris deals 'Physics Impact'-Damagetype, similar to Fragor.

Since most armor ignoring weapons have lower base damage to compensate for their effect, elemental mods are less influential on them as a general rule of thumb.

As a result, mods like Serration or Hornet Strike on guns like the Boltor or Akbolto are vital for those weapons (since they affect base damage, which is the part that gets to ignore armor), and mods like Hellfire less so (since they take the generally lower base damage and multiply it for the additional elemental damage, which does NOT ignore armor.)
