Ranking And Progression On Warframe

Who ever played Skyrim?

You just pick your favorite weapon type, keep using that kind of weapon type and you see PROGRESS.

For example destruction magic, starting from a lil firebolt till you get the fire storm or wall of flames spell.

Who ever played Fallout 3 New Vegas?

You just pick your favorite weapon type, keep using that kind of weapon type and you see PROGRESS.

For example you start with a lil laser pistol, and you will eventualy be able to use the monstruous gantlig laser gun.

Who ever played Alien Shooter?

You just pick your favorite weapon type, keep using that kind of weapon type and you see PROGRESS.

For example you start with a lil machine gun, and you will eventualy be able to use the minigun.

Ever heard about Firefall?

You just pick your class type, keep using that kind of class type, and you see PROGRESS.

For example i was a Biotech in Firefall (medic), and i could advance to dragonfly or recluse (advance medic more focused on support or offensive).

Ever heard about world of tanks? world of warplanes?

Pick the class type, stick to it, and unlock more advance branches in that class.

So.. here is my problem: why must i lvl a medic (trinity), a tanker (rhino and frost), shotguns, daggers and other things i dont really want just to.... get to a specific weapon (flux rifle)? Where is the logic in this? I dont want to play as a medic girl and other stuff, i simply dont, im not a collector, a loader, i dont have this personality disorder. I play as a loki, im happy playing as loki, but i dont want to experience other stuff i dont want/need just to get to something that got absolutly no connection. What is the connection between flux rifle and lvling other frames and weapon types? I dont see it, i simply dont.

Why to play as a medic if i dont like it? why to lvl a shotgun if i dont like it? Why warframe cant implement a lil logic in this game and a rational progression rank system?

I think the idea behind Mastery is that the Tenno gain honour and prestige amongst their peers as they master more weapons and Warframes, and the higher they are ranked in their society the more access they have to cool weapons

Think about it like this - in medieval times, no matter how great a swordsman you were, you were never going to own the best sword in the land - because the King had that sword. The person with the best gear was the person with the highest rank, influence etc, and this is basically what's going on with Warframe

I think, anyway

AFAIK Warframe is going for an "Ultimate Master" type thing, where mastering everything is better than specialising at one thing. Steve even pointed at the one scene in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" where the two ladies fought each other with any weapon they could get their hands on. And they kicked &#! because they mastered EVERY ONE OF THEM.

Focusing and absolutely mastering one thing is good, but where does that lead you? STAGNATION.

You'll still be fighting the same way, shooting the same gun, killing in the same style.

Warframe doesn't have classes for good reason: they pigeonhole players into one playstyle.

Why, now, after levelling useless stuff (mostly) and gaining mastery rank 9 and still going, I must accept OP's request.

No, I even must support it. I really come from FPS and RPG games (where using weapon A results in a better weapon A (or unlocking another weapon A1 + A2 down the path), being used to this. WF had another system, which did'nt bother me since I am able to make proper use of strategy and chain-progression. In WF I just went to use weapons and plan accordingly when I had to equip a new one, replacing the one I just got to max. Rather supply-chain and getting the "look&fell" before I went into potatoes and forma to push my favs on.

Realistically, they will never change that system, since they would arouse madness around the solar system massively. They would deny them revenue (if I need to level pistols only, I roughly need 2-3 slots for progress, weaker ones I dump, new stuff comes) and what dev would do that.

Hope they make incremental changes tho.

Real mastery involves using the same weapons and warframe in order to truly master them, and not continuously going out and switching weapons without ever mastering a single one.

True, but to become the ultimate space ninja you must be a master of everything you can lay your hands on

Yes, a ultimate space ninja cand carry hundreds of rockets, but only 72 arrows !

A ultimate space ninja is dragged like a puppet by a grinner scorpion even if he wears the heaviest armor!

A ultimate space ninja must equip male and female suits!

A ultimate space ninja can be stalked, but he cannot stalk others!

And the list can go on, just look at all these silly things in the game... its... a insult to the intelect of the human mind, to be able to not chose your gender and be forced to lvl pointlesly crap to get to something completly different.

You are considered to have mastered a weapon/warframe by gaining 30 levels in it.

Having a very high rank (10+) is the only true proof that you've played a wide spectrum of the game.

Isnt that cute? so i supposed if i get a nova, and go to mobile def missions (kappa and kiste) and lvl there all weapons, i played a wide spectrum of the game? Then i dont want to play a wide spectrum of the game, i want to explore all the solar system, i want to know every inch of the void maps using the weapons and warframe i want. Thats what i call played a wide spectrum of the game.

Playing lots of different playstyles (ie warframes & weapons) is included in the spectrum of the game. Only playing nova on kappa and kiste will not grant you many mastery ranks. My point stands.

The missions are played differently when you play different warframes on them. You don't get the full experience if you only use one warframe, one primary weapon, one secondary and one melee. A narrow experience does not make you a master of the tenno.

There's a lot of weapons to choose from to level. If you find that your tasted in weapons is narrow, then yeah you're gonna have a bad time. But in your analogy, what exactly is the Flux Rifle's weapon type? The only weapon similar to it is the Spectra.
