LongIron
Imagine You are a Tenno, brought out Cryo Sleep, you do not know who you are but you know you need to fight, a great influence by the Lotus that trains you mission by mission by stabilize the universe. You are told there isn't much time, you must destroy a reactor for your first mission. You enter a Grineer ship, it dark, you don't know what awaits you. As you move through various rooms being tutored how to open doors, climb, run and use acrobatics you meet your first challenge, a group of guards patrolling a key sector of the ship. Kill them however you see fit. If one lives you know you don't have much time before they all come down on you, you go to the mainframe and hack the layout of the ship, do you go through A to get to the reactor or B make an impression on the Grinner. Utilizing a sort of respect bar that influences how the enemy react to you, do they know you are a hard hitter and rally a big group of troops or are unsure due to your stealth approach and run around leaving weak spots to bypass. The reactor is destroyed, they flurry around all trying to reach the escape pods, they see you and set up a defence before you can escape. Hacking a system once more with a certain level of skill you can determine what doors to open/close, what alarms to set off/cancel confusing the enemy or to manipulate them. This can offer more than a resource farm or run-though mission. Spying, why is it only enemies wondering the halls and not have their own situations, time on ship dictates how they move, is it late where you know you could sneak through or light where you know you have to punch through. Actual battlefield control, with the tiers of enemies they can organize a strike plan to head you off or fall because you took out a squad leader (elites). Little milestones that add a sense of purpose could remake this game, you know there is something wrong in the design when you build a new weapon and have no adventure with levelling with the surroundings, its all a rush to the end, no more mods just add a purpose with consequential actions.
