TwiceDead
Arc Traps are great for the purpose they have, it's just from a gameplay design perspective, they are poorly implemented. You can't see an Arc Trap attacking you before it's already happened most of the time, due to light-switch placements besides doors and behind walls. Their purpose is to discourage rushing and for you(the player) to display some caution and situation awareness... From that design perspective however, they are not nearly lethal enough IMO, but that's not the point of this. The main problem is that they are too many and too randomly placed to effectively spot with the naked eye even if you're highly aware of your surroundings at all times, another problem is that they are instant... As soon as you're within their range, *ZAP*. Easy way to fix this is to add an indication of an Arc Trap's presence, like a sound that repeats every 3 seconds or so, or maybe have it pop us as wave signals on your mini-map with appropriate mods equipped. Personal suggestion:DELAYED ARC TRAPS.Once you're within one's range, you'll get a sound warning, like a sound of something spooling up(Red Alert Tesla Coil) ready to fire it's load(there you go!). A sound that lasts for 2 seconds or 3 at most, which should be enough for a person with average reflexes to identify the sound, and react accordingly. Some kind of indication of which direction it's going to fire from can be added with the appropriate mod(Enemy Radar). While we're at it, Enemy Radar should show you enemy view-cones on your mini-map and in general should you wish it. Think Dishonored or Metal Gear.
